I only have a limited amount of pictures from high school, as the majority of them are buried somewhere in my parents’ house, so I will have to make due with the few I had on hand. I’ve mentioned countless times in the past that Mr. Lovebird and I attended the same high school and that all of our groomsmen were our high school classmates. We were all part of the class often referred to as “Stuy2K.”

Here I am with GM Oliver at our prom, and no, he was not my date.

Nor was GM George my date. I never thought of him in “that way” but it didn’t stop me from making a pact with him senior year that if both of us were single at 30, we’d get married.

Here I am with our best man, Ernie. I may of made the same pact with him…and no, he also wasn’t my date.
Needless to say, high school Lovebird had no idea what marriage meant and had some silly preconceived notion that I had to be married by 30. Silly girl! Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture with Mr. Lovebird from prom. (That would’ve been awesome, right!?) Even though we hung out in the same group of friends, I actually didn’t think much of him at the time. :::SHOCKER::: We always get a kick out of people’s reactions when we tell them we met in high school, but that we actually didn’t like each other very much. Back then, I never saw Mr. Lovebird in “that way,” and vice versa.
Yes, I dated a guy or two in high school, but my true love was tennis! Being on the tennis team was one of the highlights of my high school career.

If I could, I would play every day after school and even taught tennis during the summer!

An added perk of teaching tennis during the summer was working at U.S. Open related events when the pros came to town!

How do high school boys even compare to the likes of hot Aussie tennis players!? (Ten points to whoever first guesses which pro this is!)
Seriously though, back in high school, you could say I knew diddly squat about real love. Heck, the only “love” I knew was the tennis score! (Har har, too corny?) It wasn’t until I was together with Mr. Lovebird when I started to understand real love and what qualities I looked for in someone I wanted to be with and eventually marry. He encourages me to be the best I can be and I do my best to support him as he pursues his dreams. He says I’m the only one that actually laughs at his jokes, but I actually think he’s really funny! Considering we started dating when we were 18, we’ve been a big part of helping one another “grow up.” I wouldn’t be the person I am today without him and I sense he wouldn’t be the same awesome guy without me!

Here we are during our freshman year at college…almost 10 years ago!

And that’s us on our wedding day!

And here we are with our high school (and honorary high school) classmates at our wedding.
