Mama Hippo recently dug out some old pictures for my “Then and Now” post, and in addition to the embarrassingly awkward high school pictures, she sent along some pictures of me and Sister Hippo as kids. It made me realize that I haven’t told you all about Sister Hippo, aka MOH Hippo. How cute is she?!???
Just in case it’s not clear, Sister Hippo is the one looking completely adorable in that photo; I’m the one that looks like a frightened mole.
Mama Hippo is such an awesome seamstress, and she made a ton of our clothes as kids. We either had completely matching outfits, or the same outfit, but in different colors. Like this…
At some point, Sister Hippo and I moved away from Mama Hippo’s handmade clothing and were able to shop for gems like these:
Gotta love the ’80s.
Sister Hippo and I are 2 1/2 years apart and have lived in separate cities since I was 15. We both moved out of state for college and then started our careers, neither of us returning to the state we grew up in. Even though we have lived very separate lives as adults, there was never any question about who would be my maid of honor (actually, she’s now a matron of honor, since she got married a year and a half ago). Sister Hippo is my one and only sister, and having her next to me as I marry the love of my life seems like the only option. I just couldn’t picture it any other way.
Was choosing your MOH as easy for you as it was for me?
