Mrs. Meerkat's Picture
Mrs. Meerkat, Kalamazoo, MI/Riviera Maya Age and Occupation: 30, Application Engineer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, IT Consultant Engagement Date: July 26, 2008 Wedding Date: December 2010 Venue: Al Cielo / La Laguna About Me: I’m a tech-savvy tomboy with an affinity for hot tea and good sushi. Us Meerkats are just a couple fun lovin’ geeks from Michigan. We love anything having to do with movies, books, video games or technology and we hold a special place in our hearts for our two very spoiled shih-tzus, Wicket and Bravo. We also LOVE to travel. We love it so much it only took us 12 hours after we got engaged to decide to have a destination wedding. We are working our little Meerkat tails off planning a rustic-chic, travel themed destination wedding in the Riviera Maya with a semi-formal, vintage-turned-modern, outdoor at home reception back here in Michigan.
About Mrs. Meerkat

Hopefully you have not forgotten who I am since my posting has been a bit delayed. With the wedding drawing close I find more and more  last minute projects to do, one being our ceremony programs.

Originally I wanted to do a material covered front and back cover for the programs. Like this:

The Ceremony Programs We Settled For : wedding programs riviera maya Juliedu JULIEDU

The Ceremony Programs We Settled For : wedding programs riviera maya Juliedu01 JulieDu01

source

And do a binding and inside pages like this:

The Ceremony Programs We Settled For : wedding programs riviera maya Il 430x il_430x

source

I hired a seller on Etsy to create the front and back material covers (because I have no idea how to make the embossing stay on there) and I would then make the inside. I gave the seller a drop dead date I had to have them by so I could finish them in time for the wedding. As the deadline approached I heard nothing from the seller and I assumed the worse. (Don’t worry, I learned my lesson the last time and didn’t pay the seller up front.)

So I took the only course of action I could think of (outside of throwing a tantrum) and created the programs out of the pages I had already printed.

The Ceremony Programs We Settled For : wedding programs riviera maya Dsc 00305 DSC_00305

I think they turned out pretty good for a last minute change in plans. Once I laid them on the fans they go with I knew I had made the right decision. Not to mention the oodles of time I saved not having to figure out how to make the covers. *grin*

Did you have any last minute change of plans that worked out well for you?

Those are great! I love how you used pictures of everyone. I’m all for taking shortcuts, even inadvertent ones, haha. How exactly did you do the binding? Grommets?

These are beautiful!! I don’t think they’re missing anything by not having the fabric cover AND you saved some $$.
I have been thinking of including the same Irish Blessing in my programs and I think you’ve given me a push to do it. So, thank you!!

What is up with your bad etsy luck?! I feel so bad to keep hearing your horror stories, but I’m so glad you’ve found ways to work around them! And I love your design :)

I absolutely love the layout of your programs. The pictures next to each member of the wedding part is a perfect touch. I think they are great even without the covers!

They look great! I was planning on making our programs by myself, but a month prior to the wedding a friend graciously volunteered. Being the control freak that I am, I was hesitant, but let her help because I was desperate. SO GLAD I DID! They turned out wonderfully and I loved them so!

Those bird invites with the grommets were high on our list of invites we liked!

I love the way your programs look, they don’t need the covers!

@quidditchqueen: I used eyelets I got from the scrapbooking section of hobby lobby. It gave me a excuse to buy a crop-a-dile. :-P
