Good News and Bad News

December 9th, 2010 @ 4:34 pm by Ms. Sloth

The good news: After two solid months of hardcore Weight Watchers, I am down almost 20 pounds! I still don’t see a difference when I look in the mirror, but I’m able to fit into some clothes that I’d outgrown this past year, and other people are beginning to notice. It’s nice to see that my hard work is paying off!

Good News and Bad News : wedding fitness philadelphia Weight weight-

(Not Me)

The other good news: I got a call from David’s Bridal yesterday, telling me that my dress had come in, two months early! I went to pick it up today and decided to try it on before I left.

And then, the bad news: I was swimming in the damned thing. Yup, I’d lost so much weight that the dress was huge on me. It wouldn’t even stay up without me holding it in the back. I figured that we’d just have to do some massive alterations, but the consultant in the dressing room suggested that I check with the manager to see if I could exchange it.

Luckily for me, the wedding is still almost six months away, and an exchange won’t cost a thing. The store manager will exchange my current dress, and the smaller dress will make it in plenty of time for the wedding.

But if I lose more weight, I run the risk of swimming in this dress by the time it arrives. Yikes. I suppose that I’ll have to have a lot of faith in the alterations because I have no intention of pausing my weight-loss endeavors when they are working so well.

Has anyone ever dealt with continued weight loss before the wedding? How did you handle fitting into your dress?

thats awesome! congrats on the weight loss!
I had the opposite problem. When I bought my dress, it fit perfectly and i’ve gained a little weight since I bought it and when I tried it on a few weeks ago, it wouldn’t zip up. Luckily, I have 10 months until the wedding and it’s motivated me to get back in shape (and not get the bigger size!)

So proud of you! I have had a friend who went through the same thing but wasn’t as lucky as you….she ended up paying lots and lots for alterations. i’m so excited to see you in the dress!

My weightloss is definitely not as dramatic as yours I have lost about 6 pounds since I started 3 weeks ago. I purchased my dress as a sample back in May and it was too small but I was determined to fit into it. I tried it on today and it is just right. I still plan to hopefully lose about 15 more pounds before the wedding. Guess I’m going to need some alterations as well!

that’s awesome! I’m having a dilemma because I want to lose weight, but my dress is a one-of-a-kind vintage lace gown so any weight I lose will mean it’ll be too big (we’ve already done all of the alterations, and i’m sure you know lace is NOT easy to alter!) so I guess i’ll have to maintain my weight! I’m not unhappy with my weight, i just want to be in the best shape possible!

Congrats! I lost 40 lbs before my wedding, but bought my dress small, so if I didn’t loose the weight, I would have been in trouble. I liked the preassure, but everyone’s different.

Good job! Weight Watchers is a great program, I’m a lifetime member! That’s awesome you can exchange your dress! I bet you can safely go down 2 sizes if your original gown is swimming on you!

You go girl! That’s awesome! Well, except for the whole having-to-decide-which-dress-size-to-order dilemma…Can’t really help ya with that but good luck!

Great job Sloth! I am really thinking about Weight Watchers too because I lost 20 pounds when I lived in Japan and now it’s all coming back. I know they just changed their diet plan too.. It’s a good thing you got your dress thing settled early so that you could exchange your dress, eh?

Awesome job! I lost about 27 pounds in the three months that I ordered my dress until it came in, and needless to say I was definitely swimming in it! However, there wasn’t enough time to order a new one and get it shipped in from Australia where it was made :( We have a short engagement due to me being in grad school and I only have breaks during certain months. Luckily, I have an AMAZING seamstress and she was able to just take in the dress down both side seams. You can’t even tell that the dress was originally too big! Make sure that whoever you go to for the alterations has a lot of experience and has great recommendations (other than the girls at the store where you bought it from). Also, be prepared that it can be kinda costly to have so much done. My alterations ran roughly $200, but I go for my final fitting Tuesday! CAN’T WAIT! :)

Congrats again on the weight loss! :)

It’s been more than a year sice my wedding, and I’m so happy I got my wedding dress from topbridaldress.com. It was so inexpensive but looked fabulous. I wish i can post my wedding dress here so guys all of you can see. I definitely glad to take chance to order the dress from topbridaldress. I got my dress in champagne color and it is so beautiful. I stood out so nice in the picture and I’m really happy with this purchase.
