About Mrs. Brooch

Oh Yeah, He Needs a Cake, Too!

December 10th, 2010 @ 7:28 pm by Mrs. Brooch

Since we’re on the subject of cakes, I thought I would share my ideas for a groom’s cake!

My cousin Paul got married a few months ago, and it’s truly ironic that we’re both getting married around the same time (he August 2010 and I in April 2011), because our moms are sisters. Twin sisters. Paul and I used to play together when we were little, and our mothers have always been close.

We haven’t talked much the past few years with college, working, and obviously dating, but it was wonderful to see Paul so happy. His new wife, Andrea, was a beautiful bride. The ceremony was very elegant and I am really happy for the two of them.

They are going to be living in this area and so that I hope we can rekindle our childhood and start to hang out again. I’d love to get to know Andrea better and share notes about life as newlyweds.

Paul and Andrea’s wedding and reception was held at a church in my hometown. They planned the whole thing fairly quickly (in about 6 months) and their wedding style was much different than Mr. B’s and mine.

Nevertheless, there were a lot of details (aren’t there always?) and among my favorites were: the chocolate fountain, Ferrari getaway car, and this cool groom’s cake.

Paul is kind of a computer whiz, so this cake is perfect.

I love the way they incorporated a slideshow (it was a REAL slideshow!).

Cool, huh?

I have an idea of what I’m going to do for our groom’s cake, but I want it to totally shock and surprise Mr. B. One of my coworker’s gave me the idea, and I can’t resist!

I will say it has to do with one of Mr. B’s favorite foods. Deets to come!

Did you have a groom’s cake? What was your inspiration?

FH is getting a groom’s cake. It wasn’t much of question, we having a nod to one of our favorite shows. It ended up being almost as much as “my” cake.

We’re having “groom’s pies,” since he doesn’t like cake. Strawberry rhubarb and blueberry lattice.

Back up…Ferrari getaway car? That’s what my fiance wanted but I didn’t think I could get in and out with my dress. Had she changed into a getaway outfit?

I used to work as a pastry chef. You have to be really creative, to fulfill clients expectations. It’s great fun though.

The giant LOVES zombies. He had a housewarming party of the undead. He’s seen nearly every zombie movie out there. So, a zombie cake would be truly awesome on our special day. I’m looking forward to the guests’ reactions.
