Mrs. Ostrich, San Francisco/Hawaii Age and Occupation: 30, Fashion Buyer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 38, Copywriter Engagement Date: October 4, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii About Me: Born in the city of angels and residing in the city by the bay, I’m a fearless fashion buyer by day, a passionate blog author by night and a dreamy bride-to-be in between. I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.

This topic is something that I hold near and dear to my…tummy.

Our wedding food!

Mr. Ostrich and I are professional eaters. We have a crazy love affair with food and are happiest when eating. See?

{You’d think it was Christmas. But no, it’s just a Saturday afternoon at our favorite crab shack.}

And when the topic of wedding food came around, Mr. O and I were spilling over with ideas, all which were centered around one of the things we couldn’t live without…

BBQ.

Grilling is high on our list of favorite pastimes, right under tennis and bowling. When the summer season starts to peek around the corner, the grilling season officially begins in the Ostrich family. And the best part of living in the always 50-ish degree city of San Francisco? You can grill all year long.

And since our reception is literally by the sand and sea, plated dinners aren’t an option for our dinner reception. Which was fine anyways, because we were hell bent on having a fun, BBQ reception. This would guarantee our favorite family and friends were up, movin’ around and havin’ a good time at our beach party.

So who were going to be the food stars of our wedding bbq? We had to have a little something for everyone, since our guests had diet preferences from here to there.

First up? Grilled mango chicken…

Next door would be some veggie skewers and grilled corn…

For our favorite pescatarians, some giant grilled prawns…

The steaks will be Hawaiian ribeyes…

And last but not least, in homage to Mr. O’s Korean upbringing and well, because this is the best BBQ in our book: Korean BBQ!!!

Those are our BBQ stars. There’ll also be BBQ sides galore (Hawaiian potato salad, black beans and corn, shredded papaya salad and rice). (We’re Asian - we eat everything with rice.)

We’re thrilled with our picks…and were starving after our menu planning. ;)

How about you, bees? What’s your favorite parts of your wedding menu? Was it easy for you to choose or did you love everything you tasted?

Yum! I would have loved to do BBQ however not an option at our venue :/ Thats okay though, because me and Mr. Fidelis LOVE italian food and our venue serves up some amazing italian dishes for us to choose from. Were still deciding on the meat.. I’m torn between roasted turkey breast & a slow roasted beef hmm yum I’m getting hungry now!
