To Veil or Not to Veil

December 12th, 2010 @ 5:30 pm by Mrs. Pancakes

After trying on dresses and veils, I came to the realization that I am absolutely NOT a traditional-veil girl. At this point, I think I want to get a gorgeous silk flower for the ceremony and/or a fabulous birdcage veil. So I stumbled upon Bridal Style Boutique’s website and found these beautiful silk flower headpieces.

I am kind of obsessed with the mix of silk, feathers, and crystals.

Here are some really pretty (and affordable) colored flower clips that would be great for a nontraditional bride or even the bridesmaids.

So I have to admit that I don’t quite understand all the different types of birdcage veils yet, but I do know that I LOOOOOOVE them and that I need (want?) to have one for my big day.

However, I really want to wear my hair down, so I was wondering: can you wear a birdcage veil with your hair down? These girls seem to be pulling it off!

I am not a traditional veil type of girl either. No offense to all the other veil lovers but it looks like a mosquito net that you want to put over my face… Umm no thanks. I really love those pictures of the silk flower headpieces they are so gorgeous and I just may have to go check that site out. Thanks!

I plan on doing it! I won a birdcage veil from a contest from wedding bee, and I’ve done a hair trial with the veil and my hair done– I wish I had taken pictures, but maybe I’ll just have to do it again! But it definitely works :)

Not a veil kinda girl either, and I have opted for a small silk flower that matches the fabric of my off white and champagne colored dress.

I love the first photos! I didn’t wear a veil, just a flower that I made from a silk flower, ostrich feather, french netting and a vintage clip-on earring in the center.
