All’s Well That Ends Well

December 12th, 2010 @ 11:15 am by Mrs. Prairie Dog

(For the first part of the “my photog half-cancelled snafu, go here.)

After a few days of mulling it over, I e-mailed the photographer back to say we’d be starting our search from scratch. I thanked him for his honesty. I mean, he could have just not told me he was double-booking, then feigned sick on our wedding day and sent a second shooter anyway. Seriously, I would have been none the wiser. But he was straight with me, and I appreciate it.

Once the e-mail was sent, I began the Google searches once again. But then! Then, I had a recollection that was no less than divine. It popped into my mind that a blogger bee, our very own then- Miss Seashell had hired an Ohio photographer who I hadn’t considered. (They’re based out of Dayton, not Cincinnati…I never thought to branch out a mere 45 minutes. Best bride ever.)

Less than a week after receiving the sort-of-cancel e-mail, we booked Ms. Katie Albrecht of Blink of an Eye Photography because she takes pictures that look like this:

All's Well That Ends Well : wedding cincinnati photography Katieph katieph

AND, incidentally, she is adorable:

The thing is…if I would have known about Blink of an Eye in the first place, I totally would have booked them months ago. That’s two points in the “win” column—one for Weddingbee and one for bride karma.

So here is my lesson unto you, fellow brides. Breathe. Maybe laugh. Attack problem ASAP. There might be a major blessing in disguise awaiting you!

Have you had any snafus that worked out for the best?

How wonderful that it worked out! We ended up moving up our date and switching from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon, which allowed us to get the venue we really wanted and at a much cheaper price. Not really a snafu, but we decided to change the date first and then it ended up working out perfectly with the venue, which wasn’t available originally.

Yay for happy endings! We had a similar snafu with our DJ. When I booked with one person, he hadn’t realized that his partner was booking with another person for the exact same date. So he cancelled. But luckily, I found the DJ we ended up hiring, and I definitely think it was for the best. Our DJ was awesome.

I do believe you just helped me find my photographer! Thanks a lot! I’m from Columbus, and was having a hard time finding venues/photogs and just about everything else.
