About Mrs. Prairie Dog

I don’t know why the crap I thought I should design our save the dates. Because I am a know-it-all control freak, I guess. Also: impatient, sleep deprived, and barely caffeinated.

Don’t worry, though. Five frustrating drafts later, and we finally have a winner. In this case, I took STD to mean “sophisticate the design.” Using this method, you pour every ounce of your wedding’s class into the text. Oh! And make sure the numbers look kind of wonky!

All Design and No Play Makes Me a Dull Girl : wedding cincinnati save the dates Classy1 classy1

The pinnacle of elegance, no? It’s OK if you’re jealous. Not everyone can be as refined as we are. I think my grandmother is going to love it.

OK, seriously though. Should I just bite the bullet and buy pre-designed save the dates? Did any of you hit your wit’s end designing your own?

I decided to compromise between pre-designed and self-designed by using a site like Vistaprint to upload a photo and then edit the text using their included fonts and colors. It definitely seemed easier than stretching my tiny creativity to its absolute limits and then some.

Thankfully I have a very artistic brother who designed our Save the Dates for us….just got our magnets back from Vistaprint….they look awesome! Do you have a artsy friend to help you out?

Heheh. I love the design — stripes and florals and an adorable “and” ornament! Yay!

These would be brilliant to send to your friends, or even to upload to facebook and tag your friends in so they’ll see it. I don’t think our grandmothers would appreciate the humor but our friends would love it.

As far as designing goes…I would say just skip it for the save the dates. I was going to design both our STDs and invitations, but it was so much easier to just find some I liked online. I’m saving my energy for other things.

I designed our own - the first one or two I did were frustrating because I’d forgotten how to use photoshop, but by the end of it, I had made too many to choose from, because I was having fun!

If I may, I thought about creating my own but instead worked with someone with my ideas and their artistic ability. Win-Win: My design by another hand….stunning

We did exactly that…after months of struggling with our STDs, I just threw my hands up and ordered some from weddingpaperdivas. The best laid plans…

I actually DIYed everything from taking our photos myself, to designing and editing, to taking it to get printed on recycled cardstock/emailing it to tech-savvy guests…It was a lot of work but I think we did it justice in the end!

Best save the date. Ever. Grandmom would love (hate.) them.

We ordered magnets from VistaPrint.com when they were on sale. We got 100 save the date post cards for FREE and 100 magnets for $30!! Cant beat that!

Haha, it’s cute! I thought about designing our own STD and tried a couple of things, but we really needed to get them out and I couldn’t find what I liked so the final project was e-pic on the front, Martha template on the back. So creative, I know!

ha that’s funny! i actually think you should use it, at least for your friends :) i designed mine but did not find it to be frustrating at all. i went with a postcard idea, using one of our e-pics on the front. i loved how it turned out! you can see it here: http://sytpaper.blogspot.com/2010/12/postcard-save-dates.html

Amazing. It’s what everyone thinks but doesn’t have the guts to say. Best STD ever.

I would DIE laughing if I got one of these in my mailbox. Please send them, at least to your friends and WP. Hysterical.
