Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!

The Most Amazing Shower Ever

December 14th, 2010 @ 1:33 pm by Mrs. Cardigan

This past weekend Sister Cardy threw me what I am certain was the most amazing showers ever thrown. She is a MASTER party thrower, and she didn’t hold back at all on this one. I’ve been so excited for this shower for months, and now I’m super excited to share photos!

Since BM Audrey was going to be in town for the shower, we planned to have my bachelorette party on the same night. So, not only did I have a super awesome shower, but we left right afterwards for my super awesome bachelorette party! Talk about a great day!

When I first got to Sister Cardy’s house, I was blown away by all that she did to decorate for the shower. She had obviously been working on decorations for a very long time, and it totally paid off.

The drink table, where she had orange-infused tea and some amazing bellinis.

Oh and Izze soda, of course, because it’s so damn cute.

The food spread was ridiculously amazing, and rendered all of us disgustingly full until about 8:30 that evening.

She made…

Pesto chicken sandwiches with an amazing pesto mayonnaise, and some tomato, basil, and parmesan bruschetta

And an artichoke goat cheese bruschetta (I think? I don’t remember exactly what it was), and a shrimp salad on endive.

Oh and there was some ridiculously amazing tomato-basil soup (my favorite!) that I can’t wait to steal the recipe for.

And as for desserts…

There were chocolate covered strawberries, oreo truffles, and an amazing red velvet cake.

Yeah, my sister made that. ‘Cause she’s a total cake rock star.

And on the dessert table were favors for all of the guests:

Pomegranate flavored sugar hand scrub. It smells sooo yummy!

The other decorations around the house were adorable, and she even let me steal some of them after the shower.

Her Christmas tree was up which made me totally happy. Mr. Cardigan and I are skipping a tree this year because of wedding craziness and the fact that we have a 65 pound puppy who likes to eat things.

Beyond the decorations and the (amazing) food, the shower was a ton of fun! I had several family members come in from out of town and just generally got to feel extremely special and loved (I mean, someone doesn’t go to all of that trouble decorating if they don’t love you a lot!). There were no shower games (thank you, Sister Cardy!) just amazing food, exciting gifts, and catching up with some family that I hadn’t seen in a while.

Oh, and my nieces played the entire time with FMIL Cardy, who loves to entertain kids.

It was freaking adorable.

I would definitely say it was the best shower ever! Once it was over, we (we being Sister Cardy, BM Audrey, and Sister Cardy’s friend Sarah, and I) were all itching to get ready to have some fun at my bachelorette party. So I made Sister Cardy pose for a quick photo of us in our cute shower outfits…

…and off we went!

Did you have anyone go above and beyond to throw a shower for you?

How did she manage to make the adorable pom-pom balls? I assume there’s a tutorial on WeddingBee somewhere, right?!
