I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.

Dressing the Little Ones

December 16th, 2010 @ 1:19 pm by Mrs. Brooch

Since we’re on the topic of wedding attire, I thought I’d go ahead and share my ideas for dressing the little ones, too! We’re not having children at our wedding, except for those in the bridal party, my brother’s young children, and my dad’s two young daughters, and I suspect all eyes will be on them!

Kids are the cutest all dressed up, aren’t they?

A ring bearer pillow with tulle and chiffon embellishment is coming to a blog near you very, very soon! We’re DIY pillow people, and even though this one doesn’t look exactly like mine, it’s pretty inspirational! I don’t know that we’ll use  this same material, but I can’t argue it’s gorgeous. I love the rich-colored ribbon, and how full the flower is; those pearls in the center are just darling, too. I have a thing for pearls anyway, don’t you?

Oh man. I absolutely die over this vintage dapperlads suit! I can see my little nephews in it now, and mouths literally dropping as they walk down the aisle! Our photographer is sure going to love these guys, ’cause they’re already so cute. The hat is a must! I wonder if we’ll be able to keep the suits on them. I also wonder if they sell this same style in grey? Any dapperlads brides out there?

Isn’t this headband the cutest green accessory EVER? OK, I might just love it because I love green (that’s the shade of green I love), but I think it will make for a sweet gift to one of my little sisters. I’m not sure whether Brooke, the Junior BM, or Alison the flower girl will wear it, but someone will! It’s ordered, and I can’t wait for it to arrive!

There are two dresses pictured here, because I’m kinda torn. I love love love the Alfred Angelo dress in clover and while. The cascading flowers are adorable, perfect for a garden wedding, and I like the idea that she’ll be matching the rest of the girls (whose dresses are also clover).

BUT, I’m also in love with tutu-inspired gowns like the other one pictured here, and think a pop of the color pink would be even cuter in photos (more than the matchy-matchy). What do you think?

Oh and how about that flower head wreath? SO CUTE. A handmade flower basket like this one will be coming soon, too!

Have you thought about what the little ones in your wedding will wear? Do share!

I sent that photo of the little boy wearing knickers to my sister for my 3 -yr old nephew and got a resounding no. Some people have no imagination.
