I am addicted to all things DIY and am planning what I call a Texas-Chic wedding. I love snuggling with my two adorable dogs and of course, my adorable fiance. Texas Twosome: We Set Up!

December 17th, 2010 @ 8:40 am by Mrs. Plaid

We opted not to have a wedding planner or even a day-of coordinator from the beginning. We knew we’d be able to do it ourselves, with the help of family and friends, and didn’t want to spend the money.

Setting up was a bit of a challenge since it was still pretty windy outside and we weren’t completely sure it was done raining for the day. But everyone quickly banded together and got things done.

Table centerpieces were set out,

the cake table was set up to wait for the cake that would come later,

the seating arrangement lollipop trees were displayed,

and the sweetheart table was adorned with decorations.

My fabulous friends also decorated the arbor, set out our guestbook tree, flip flop basket, program basket and hung the twine for our pictures and well-wish papers. I am so thankful for our generous family and friends. We finished setting up in a little under an hour and then it was finally time to get dressed!

Miss something?

Just curious, how did you keep your hair and makeup so pristine while setting up? I was covered in dirt and sweat (probably blood and tears too…) by the time we finished; I’m amazed that yours stayed intact! Your hair & makeup must have had major staying power! :)

@Mrs. Husky: My hair stayed up because I didn’t do the really strenuous setting up stuff. Plus I had about a half a million bobbypins in my hair and a can of hairspray. The make-up stayed because the salon we went to used airbrush make-up. It’s supposed to be sweat and water proof.

Thanks ladies!

Whew, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had friends and family help set up. Sometimes I see this weddings and it’s like omg elves must have set all that stuff up because I have no idea how they did all that. Hooray for DIY weddings!
