Mrs. Lioness, Atlanta Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Attorney Engagement Date: August 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Anthony’s Fine Dining About Me: I’m a Southern girl with New England roots. I say "wicked" and "y’all" in the same sentence and I like to drink sweet tea with my lobster. Mr. Lion and I are both former Floridians now living in Atlanta, which fortunately is still SEC country...Go Gators! We both love baseball, coffee, traveling, cooking, and playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPhones all day long. I’m very passionate about the things and the people I love, and I tend to plan things with all of my heart...our wedding, of course, is no different! Oh, and also Mr. Lion is a first generation American of Cuban descent. I may look more like Lucy than Ricky, but I’m doing my best to incorporate some Latin elements into our vintage-garden-Southern wedding!

Registry Stalking

December 17th, 2010 @ 5:31 pm by Mrs. Lioness

If y’all are anything like me, you’ve been busy attending holiday parties, baking cupcakes and cookies, and wrapping presents. It’s just that time of year! The holiday season has got me thinking about presents. When I was little, I was that horrible child who climbed up into my parents’ closet (which they thought was a good hiding place) and shook each wrapped Christmas and Hanukkah present to try to guess what was inside. Well, apparently I’m no different with wedding presents. Yes, I’m aware that I’m an adult now.

Hive, I am guilty of registry stalking. You know, your online registry shows what you want and what you have. As guests start buying gifts, that little “fulfilled” column starts to fill up. Well, occasionally I like to check out that little fulfilled column to see what’s new.

The sad part is that we received our first registry gift before I acquired this stalking habit…and that surprise made the gift that much more special! We had just sent out our save the dates, so we were a little confused when we received a wedding gift in the mail 10 months before our wedding.

Confused Lions

When we opened it up to find the following gift, the surprise got even better!

Lion Corgi was not nearly as entertained by my matching apron as I was.

You’d think after enjoying the surprise of our first gift so much, I’d stop ruining surprises by registry stalking. What can I say? I can’t help myself!

How about you? Are you resisting the urge to registry stalk or are you as guilty as I am?

Oh I am SO jealous! That is my dream gift.. haha. We don’t even have a registry yet - how funny that people buy gifts so early, I’m not one to do that!

I’ll try to resist, but who knows if I’ll succeed. I love surprises, but once I know something’s coming, I am also a package shaker. Love your apron!

I totally do that, but I was surprised by our KitchenAid stand mixer, too! (Ours is majestic yellow!) Mr. Panther’s parents got it for us for Christmas, and I didn’t notice before we got it because it shipped so fast. You look like you’re much better with yours than I am with mine. I tried to make sugar cookies this week and totally failed. What’d you make??

Completely guilty. We got one gift unexpectedly before we’d even sent out STD’s. (I guess the giver asked my mom if we were registered yet and where– we’d just done it the day before!) Since then I totally check it every few weeks… though we’ve yet to get another thing yet. I’m guessing once our invites go out and showers start happening some of the stuff will start coming in, though.

It is pretty tempting to peak at a registry. Surprises can be fun, though. P.S. I’m totally jealous of your mixer!

I just got myself that same mixer! (same color ^^) isn’t it incredible?

As for registry stalking, I’m sure I would, if I had anything really added to the registry. I’m having a tough time finding things to put on it.

Ahh, so cute! Love the matching apron.

We got a looooot of gifts the day of, so my registry stalking the months before was pretty fruitless. That’s what I get for being a naughty Glasses!

ah, jealous of your Kitchenaid - that’s totally going to be item number one on my registry! we haven’t registered yet but I’m amazed by how many people keep asking…we keep trying to tell people they shouldn’t be buying “engagement presents” but some just insist, which is amazing, but I feel like they are going to be spending enough (we are doing a semi-destination wedding). plus, I’m one hundred percent positive that I will stalk my registry like mad…haha!

My FI’s aunt keeps asking if we have registered yet so I know she is anxious but we decided to wait until after the holidays. I got my Kitchenaid mixer for my birthday a few years ago and I love it. We celebrated Christmas with part of the family this weekend and I got a Le Creuset pot so now I am extra excited to register for the matching dutch oven. I will probably registry stalk as well… too tempting!

@Miss Ostrich: We are kindred spirits, girl!

@Miss Panther: In this picture, I was making sugar cookies with ice-blue frosting to match the mixer :) We have a lot of potlucks at work, and I’m now known as the “girl who always insists on bringing something baked” because I always sign up for a dish that I can use the mixer for! It’s quite versatile.

@Lo: Ahh! I LOVE Le Creuset! That dutch oven sounds like it’ll be a great gift :)
