Mrs. French Toast's Picture
Mrs. French Toast, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Marketing & PR Fiance's Age and Occupation: IT geek by day, self-proclaimed handyman by night Engagement Date: October 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Palm Event Center About Me: I’m a city girl at heart who moved to the suburbs a year ago. Now I’m adjusting to life with a front lawn, nosy neighbors, cooking attempts, and making sure the garbage pail is pulled out on time every week! When I’m not traveling, Mr. FT and I enjoy marathon sessions of Law & Order: SVU, snowboarding, photography, spoiling our 3-year old yorkie-poodle Mokka and disagreeing over what music to listen to in the car. We’re planning a small winery wedding while incorporating some cultural elements into the day as a nod to our Chinese backgrounds.
About Mrs. French Toast

A City United

December 17th, 2010 @ 11:03 am by Mrs. French Toast

This is the city I grew up in.

Can you guess my favorite show as a kid? Full House.

This is the city where I met the love of my life.

Our first date at a Giant’s game

This is the city where I plan to raise my kids.

This is also the city whose MLB team just won the World Series!!!

During the weeks right after they won the series, San Francisco was literally painted in orange and black. You couldn’t go out on the street without seeing someone decked out in Giants gear, or two strangers just striking up a conversation about the game, and everyone just grinning ear to ear—young and old alike.

It was genuinely uplifting to see our city so united.

I was there! Can you spot me?

At a time when political tensions threatened to divide our city, it was the Giants that brought us together again. The sport broke down all barriers—race, sex, gender, social class. We were only in a celebratory mood.

That’s why it means so much to me to have a local wedding instead of a destination wedding. When friends and acquaintances found out about our engagement, they all suggested a destination wedding as a nod to my jetsetting lifestyle. But Mr. French Toast and I knew early on that we wanted to stay close to our roots, our families, and our city.

While the Palm Event Center isn’t exactly in San Francisco, we will begin the morning festivities in the city when J comes to “pick me up” from my mom’s house and proceed with the traditional tea ceremony. San Francisco will also be the gathering spot for all the parties and festivities that will occur in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and it will always hold a special spot in my (now-suburban) heart.

And in true Giants spirit…

FEAR THE BEARD!!!

How did you decide on a local wedding versus a destination wedding?

Yay, go Giants! And your flower girl wearing the Wilson beard is adorable! I have friends in San Fransisco and can’t wait to plan a trip out there for a visit!

The Giants winning the series was definitely the highlight of the year, although I guess getting engaged was too :)
We LOVE SF, my honey is from there as well and we want to celebrate our love for the city with our friends and family too, unfortunately, having a wedding IN the city isn’t really an option for us :( but bay area counts right!

We definitely wanted a huge party instead of just a chosen few, and we love SF so in-city was it.

Go, Giants!

we couldn’t pick one…so we chose both! a small DW for the people who cheered us on these past 10 years…and a raging party for our family and friends back in our amazing san francisco. :)

ahhh, these world series pics and b.wilson beards make me so happy! we were at the games and the parade too. :)

so excited to see what you and mr. french toasty have planned!

Love the “fear the beard” thing going on. We’re Detroit Tigers fans..in fact fans of all Detroit sports so I fully support your baseball spirit!
We went local because we want ALL of our family and friends to be able to celebrate with us, not jsut the ones who can make a destination trip.

@xxladyluckxx - The Full House home is known as the “Painted Ladies” along Postcard Row on Steiner Street. You can picnic across the street at Alamo Park (yep, just like during the opening credits when the Tanner family picnics across the street!)
