Ah, I think I’ve teased you all enough—and I can’t wait any longer, since I may explode if I don’t share my wedding dress with you. First things first though: it’s time to send the other half away from the computer.
Mr. Jaguar, if there’s any post you DON’T want to accidentally read (lest you have a very feisty feline on your hands), it’s this one. Run, Jaguar, Run!

Okay… so with all housekeeping aside, now it’s on to the good stuff. After we’d visited the first two dress stores, my accomplice toothfairyb & I had a quick lunch and discussed the options so far. I had basically ruled out all the dresses I’d tried on, with the exception of the plain v-neck. I’d kept it as a potential mainly because I liked how nice and simple it was, that it gave me a bit of a waist, and budget-wise? It was a good fit.
All the same, we had one last appointment at Sposa in New Westminster. I was nervous when we walked in, because everything looked teeny tiny, and the saleswomen were pretty up front about not having dresses bigger than a 16 in stock. (Read: nervous panic.) They DID have a lot of beautiful lace gowns though, so we picked a few to try on—even a few 14s, though that was more than a little hopeful!
My dress was the first one I tried on. It was a really snug fit, particularly in the bust area, and was everything I DIDN’T think I’d like on. It was strapless…I didn’t want strapless. It was a sweetheart neckline…I didn’t want a sweetheart neckline. It was mermaid style and super fitted…NOT what I was going for at all. But you know, it hugged my body pretty nicely!
I tried it on with a strapless bra at first, and didn’t feel comfy—so quickly whipped it off & ‘free-boobed’ it, where it felt MUCH better. I still didn’t like the strapless look (mostly on the back) so out of nowhere, a lace bolero was materialised, and once I put it on.. that was it. It looks SO perfect with the dress, like it’s actually attached/part of it, and it covers up all the areas that I was so nervous about showing. Are you ready to see it? Squeeee.. here it is!

Excuse the bad lighting: they’re from my iPhone!
I still can’t get over the fact that I squeezed (literally!) into the gown they had in stock, and that it fit almost perfectly. I would like to lose a little more weight/tone up a bit more before the big day, but that’s nothing new—that’s always been my healthy goal anyway. But because the dress is so snug, it has the potential to get unflattering—so there’s my motivation to keep moving! Here are some more shots of the dress:
