Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!

My Big Day Before THE Big Day!

December 20th, 2010 @ 12:30 pm by Mrs. Cardigan

Guess what I did this weekend?

I’ll give you a hint…

My Big Day Before THE Big Day! : wedding austin 1 1

What are we wearing, you ask?

Our graduation robes! BM Audrey and I graduated from A&M this weekend and I couldn’t possibly be more excited about it!

When Mr. Cardigan and I first got engaged, one of the very first things we decided on was that we wouldn’t get married until at least one of us had graduated from college. Well, we timed it pretty nicely because I graduated a whopping three weeks before our wedding!

I had a wonderful weekend and got to go out to an amazing lunch with Mr. Cardy and my parents after graduation. It still hasn’t quite sunk in that I’m officially a college graduate, but I’m super excited and it’s incredibly thrilling to know that I don’t ever have to worry about school again.

Mr. Cardigan and I at lunch a few hours after I graduated

I have to say, the excitement of graduation was somewhat overshadowed by the fact that we’re getting married in just a few weeks, but it’s still incredibly excited and I’m proud of myself for what I’ve accomplished.

It sounds silly, but I feel much more like a full-fledged “adult” now that college is officially over. It makes the the fact that I’m getting married seem so much more real to me! It’s coming up fast and I’m so ready!

Did you have any big events happen right before your wedding?

Congrats! It’s a weird feeling knowing that school is done. For those of us who aren’t teachers it’s really weird to not have summer or winter break. Right now my grad school husband is enjoying his time off! I’m so jealous.

Congrats, thats very exciting! I’m actually graduating from grad school the very same day as my wedding. I forgot to look up when graduation was when we were picking a date with the venue… Whoops! Good thing I walked for undergrad and they can mail the diploma, haha.

Congratulations Miss Cardigan! My SO and I also plan to get married very soon after I graduate, and I’ve been worried that it will be too much stress all at once. But THANK YOU for showing me that it’s possible with proper planning! I’m so happy for you and the fact that you can start off your professional career as a Mrs!

Whoop! Congrats Cardigan! I graduated in May, and I drove down Friday to see my fiance graduate Friday. We’re getting married in a couple months. He thought it was really important for us to be graduated as well, but I have lots of friends who were married in school and it worked out well for them. Housing in CS is comparably cheap, so I can imagine younger couples still in school take advantage of this.

However - woo-hoo for being an “adult” and congrats on your upcoming big day!

Congratulations! My FI and I will be finishing med school three weeks before the wedding, so I’ll have a little bit of time to revel in the “Dr” before I revel in the “Mrs.” It’ll be a big month for sure!
