*peeks around the corner*
*does a happy dance*
Hello, lovelies! A shocked and ridiculously excited Miss Tartlet here, still in disbelief that I’ve been given the privilege of being the newest bee. I’ve been an avid Weddingbee reader since getting engaged back in May of 2009; I’ve wistfully watched many bees come and go and drooled over many an image and DIY project that you’ve posted to the boards. I’m normally a more behind-the-scenes kind of gal, but all of that changed on a chilly Michigan morning when I received my acceptance e-mail from Mrs. Penguin!

Naturally, my first reaction was to scream. At work. Very loudly. After composing myself (Who am I kidding?), I made it through the rest of the day and scurried home to make a critically important decision. At first, I considered the alias “Miss Pain au Chocolat.”
However, I had to look up how to pronounce “pain,” which really didn’t bode well for its success. I’ve had a craving for cinnamon buns lately and also love jams, but as we all know those names have been claimed!
But really, the one character that commanded my attention (because it’s just so darn delicious and cute) was Tartlet.
So, who are the Tartlets? Both of us were born and raised in Michigan, but lived on opposite sides of the state. (I actually share the same hometown as Miss Meerkat—holla!) Our paths didn’t converge until undergrad, and we started dating a mere three weeks before I graduated. In that short time, we made lasting impressions that propelled us into a semi-long-distance relationship while Mr. Tartlet finished up his last year of college, after which time he followed me to the University of Michigan (Go Blue!).
I recently wrapped up a Ph.D. in neuroscience, and by day I aspire to unravel the mysteries of the brain; when night falls, I exchange my lab coat for a pair of ballet slippers to dance my worries away. I have an almost irrational love for paper, indulge in fantasy novels, and find cooking to be extremely therapeutic. Mr. Tartlet is finishing his last year of medical school and is training to become an orthopedic surgeon. He’s steadfast and reliable; the kind of guy who would survive being dumped in Siberia because of his MacGyver-esque ingenuity. He plays soccer and can pull 720s in the ski park, but also makes a mean chocolate torte (with homemade raspberry sauce to boot).
Nom om om
Together, we’re just a pair of geeky goofballs who are still fondly in love with each other and all the quirks we bring to the table of our almost seven-year relationship. We’re wild about all things food; it’s not uncommon for us to schedule our vacations around restaurant reservations, and our friends have gotten used to the majority of our photos being of what we eat. We’ve been known to stay up all night playing video games, and our patronage alone could keep a coffee shop in business.
We’re bringing the outdoors in for a garden-inspired celebration made rich by the presence of our closest family and friends. I’m so honored to be here, and I look forward to sharing my sweet and savory adventures in wedding planning with you! Thanks for having me!
