Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New Zealand Age and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography Student Engagement Date: February 14, 2010 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Gardens of the World About Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.

Prettifying the Disposables

December 21st, 2010 @ 2:48 pm by Mrs. Earrings

Remember how we are using compostable bamboo utensils at our reception instead of hiring silverware? Well, we ordered them, they arrived, and then we decided to pretty them up a bit using a tiny heart stamp and some twine. See for yourself:

After stamping a kazillion forks, knives, and spoons, I bundled the knives and forks together with a recycled napkin:

I love how they turned out—totally simple, but totally adorable. I put the dessert spoons in another basket and called it a day. Yes, I know I didn’t have to prettify something like knives and forks but sometimes the easiest projects turn out to be my favourite ones. :)

What ultra-easy DIY project have you most enjoyed the results of?

they look great but I would not recommend having cutlery on the floor.

I love this! It’s a cute idea and it really does dress them up. Love the yarn, too!

@julies1949: Dont worry :) I was conscious of that- a very clean floor and a swipe with an antiseptic wipe should mean all the germs are dealt with :)

Hmmm...

If I were a guest and saw the forks/knives/spoons on the floor, I would so not use them!
