Mrs. Jam, Chicago Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Associate Wedding Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Structural Engineer Engagement Date: December 23, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Hunter’s Ridge, Princeton, IL About Me: I’m a penny-pinching cat lady getting ready to marry the frugal dog lover of my dreams. Our ideal Saturday morning includes rummaging around people’s junk at garage and estate sales followed by an afternoon date to our favorite café, where we only eat sandwiches that include the word “salad.” We actually love it so much, it’s sort of our unofficial wedding theme: Look at our delicious finds, eat homemade ham salad, and celebrate our love…barndance style. When we’re not obsessing over our love-fest shindig, we’re planning themed parties for our best friends and jamming to '90s music.

Getting Sad About Spending

December 21st, 2010 @ 3:27 pm by Mrs. Jam

You know that feeling when you’re parting with a big chunk of the week’s paycheck to send out a vendor deposit? Part of you is happy because you love the vendor, but another part of you is incredibly sad because there are so many other things you want to spend money on.

For me, that would be TOMS.

Huge shout out to two of my best friends pictured above: Tana for buying me my very first pair of TOMS, and Flip for being the first of our friends to don a pair. Yes, they are both in our wedding. And yes, I do think an entire wedding party wearing TOMS would be an absolutely fabulous look.

Check out that yellow and white pair of TOMS peeking out from under the white gown! Talk about feel-good dancin’. You can check out more from this wedding here.

Aside from the unbelievable comfort of TOMS (perfect for dancing with your new husband or wife until the sun comes up), know that for every pair of TOMS you purchase, a pair is given to a child in need. Read more about it here.

And for those of you who think you look stumpy in flats or prefer that your wedding shoes give you a few extra inches without making you tumble down in a tangle of tulle, TOMS makes wedges.

You’re welcome.

Anybody in the hive wear TOMS at their wedding? I know Mrs. Argyle rocked a red pair at her reception. Do you want TOMS? Is anybody wearing them right now while reading this post?

I’ve heard of this cause/brand, but don’t have a pair. However, though I prob. won’t be wearing them for the wedding, may look into getting a pair the next time I need a reg. pair of shoes.

Thx for sharing. :)

That is a great cause. I had never heard of TOMS because I was still living in Japan when they came out, but I think Sloth? or someone talked about them. I didn’t know they could be cute, those wedges are adorable!

I totally wore TOMs at my wedding reception, bright pretty red ones. They were perfect! Flat and comfy and I danced in them all night with no sore feet at all. Those were my first pair and I’ve collected a few more since then!

I sailed the same boat as Mrs Pin Cushion and gifted my bridesmaids a pair of Toms. During the reception they all wore them, I kept my J. Choo’s on ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT, lol ;)

I am wearing my TOMS right now! I love them because I can bead on them (I am Native, and I love “ojibwe-izing” normal objects)

I really want gold glittery TOMS for Christmas!

I can’t wear them because of the lack of ankle or arch support but a friend of FH and mine wore them at her wedding this fall

if you scroll halfway down the page you can see her lifting up her dress to show her shoes.

Our whole wedding party wore TOMS. My husband and I are in love with the whole idea of TOMS and wouldn’t have had it any other way. All my girls wore the gold glitters, the guys wore black and I wore blue ones as my something blue!

You can check out some great pictures from this wedding bee post!

Sister Lioness

I’m obsessed with my charcoal TOMS. I kind of squealed when I found out they were the perfect gray to wear for the Lioness reception! Thanks for spreading the mission :)
