About Mrs. French Toast

If I had to choose a celebrity to depict me from when I first started traveling to now, it would be…

HA! Fooled ya! I WISH!

It was actually more like this…

Young, energetic, happy

Tired, dry skin, chapped lips

So what’s a bride-to-be gonna do when she’s less than four months away from the day that she will be photographed the most? Eeeeeeek!

She turns to her flight-attendant friends for tips! Out of all people, flight attendants are the ones who are constantly exposed to circulated in-flight air, sleeping at different hotels, eating out, and fighting jet lag.

Lucky for moi, I’ve met a few gorgeous flight attendants who were willing to share some of their beauty tips.

  • Drink plenty of water in flight. Sure the airline might offer complimentary coffee, wine, juice, and soda—but what your body needs most is H20! It keeps you hydrated and your skin supple.
  • Moisturize. The air in the cabin can leave your skin feeling tight and dry, so moisturize prior to your flight. Don’t use the H2O mist sprays! They trick your skin into thinking that it’s hydrated when they only add a layer of water on the surface.
  • Go light on the makeup. Seriously—nobody will pay attention to you in flight, especially if it’s a long-haul route and everyone is trying to catch some snooze. The flight attendants who work the long-haul flights gets a rest period where they actually wash off their makeup to rest and then reapply the makeup afterward.
  • Post-flight: Catch some zzz’s! This is actually the most critical period to allow your body to rest and rejuvenate.

When I travel, I only pack the minimal essentials to keep me looking fresh. I seldom check my luggage, so everything I carry is three ounces or less. The Container Store carries a selection of travel-sized bottles that I use and reuse religiously to transfer my skincare products so my routine is consistent. Everything from shampoo to sunblock—these babies are always in my luggage. The TSA 3-1-1 rule has got nothin’ on me!

How do you travel with your skincare and makeup products? And any tips to add so we can all look our best on the big day?

Love it! I travel all the time! A life-saver for lips is Elizabeth Arden 8-hour cream! I also mix it with my regular moisturiser if im doing the LONG haul - Sydney to London = 24 hours on the plane, hello PARCHED!

Ahhhh, I never follow any of these when I travel, I’m so bad. Well, except I never fly with makeup on - it always amuses me to see people fly with full on makeup, heels, blinged out, etc. I think it’s safe to say it’s mostly Asians-from-Asia that do this, but I’ll never understand the logic. I wanna pick the mind of an Asian airline’s flight attendant because they are perfection - how do they keep their hair up and perfect on long haul flights?!?!

When I land in another time zone, I make sure not to take a nap or sleep until it’s a normal bed time for that time zone otherwise I’m just jet lagged and out of sync the whole trip. Tokyo to L.A. is always so hard!

@Glasses - The flight attendants flying the international route get a “rest period”, where they can remove their makeup and re-apply. I always get off the long haul flights looking like a mess!

Good Tips!!! I usually over moisturize and no makeup before a flight. It always ends up on my face after rubbing my eyes the whole time.
