Oh My Garters!

Oh My Garters! : wedding accessories austin undergarments Waffle1 waffle1

Waffle has expressed that he wants no Englishness at our wedding. Well, I’m planning on having a little surprise hidden up my sleeve dress that may make him OK with having this wee touch of England.

While working at my sewing machine one day, this little Cath Kidston pincushion winked at me and put some garter ideas in my head.

Idea #1 - The Flags: This garter would be ivory lace with blue ribbon running through it. The US and UK flags are centered with a gold and pearl button.

Idea #2 - The Ribbons: This garter is also ivory lace, with a Union Jack ribbon. The red and blue rosette-style ribbon is centered with a gold and pearl button.

So, I have two decisions to make. Which garter idea should I use? And should I DIY it or put out an Etsy alchemy request?

You should totally DIY #2, or 1. They’re both adorable. Great idea! I bet he’ll love it.

I love #1. It looks way cute with the flags. Plus, the ribbon weaving through won’t be as busy as the Union Jack one. :)

I like #2 but with the blue ribbon running through it like #1. I say try the DIY route but see if there is someone out there who will do it for you, just in case!

Both garters are adorable, but I really like the flags one. The ribbon one is not as clearly “English”

As for whether you should make them or order them from Etsy, I would totally recommend making them. I made my garters and they literally took a matter of hours. It’s a really simply project.

The flags are super cute and I totally think that you should DIY if you aren’t loaded down with too many other projects.

love them both, and i’ll go with No.2! Maybe you can find Union Jack ribbons to just sew over lace/elastic?

I like the flags! And if you find Union Jack ribbon, let me know where! I would love to work in some (more) Britishness to our wedding!

I love #1 with the flags. If you think you can make it yourself I would totally go that route because you know what you want. If you’re worried or short on time, outsource and hope for the best!
