Mrs. Pancakes's Picture
Mrs. Pancakes, New York/Costa Rica Age and Occupation: 26, Law School Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Latin American Policy Analyst Engagement Date: March 12, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Casa Punto de Vista About Me: I’m a perfectionist with a big heart. I love a good laugh and firmly believe no one has ever regretted being prepared! My motto is “go big or go home.” I am incapable of doing anything in moderation, especially when it comes to shopping, TV, food and travel, and some would say wedding planning! The other half of this nearlywed team is a laid-back, adventure-loving, accident prone, sweetie from LA. He makes me laugh, is always down for an impromptu dance party, and totally indulges most of my hare-brained schemes. Now, in my final year of law school, we’ll be spending the spring abroad in Amsterdam and planning a DIY, whimsical, detail-filled destination wedding in Costa Rica!
About Mrs. Pancakes

Something for the Fellas

December 22nd, 2010 @ 11:20 am by Mrs. Pancakes

I love bow ties! I would love to put our groomsmen in bow ties, but I don’t think that it’s actually going to happen, so I thought I would look for other unique groomsmen details (before I fall in love with bow ties and there is no turning back).

My (our) groomsmen are a great group of fun-loving guys. They are a super close group who grew up together and even have matching tattoos. Since Mr. Pancakes doesn’t drink, a lot of the alcohol-related gifts are out of the question (i.e., flasks, personalized beer mugs, etc.). Additionally, they aren’t the type of boys who need money clips, cuff links, or personalized pocket watches.

So here are some fun alternatives I found:

When Mr. Pancakes saw this picture, he said, “I would so be a shoe-be if we could get matching Dunks for the wedding!” (Shoe-be. noun [shoo-be]: Those beach-goers who think it is appropriate to wear shoes on the beach.)

While I think matching shoes are adorable, I really love the idea of a barefoot beach wedding. I could live with matching flip flops, but I just don’t think shoes are appropriate on the beach.

I love this idea! It is a very practical personalized gift. Would this be DIY-able? What kind of thread would you use?

How cute are these boys in their sunglasses!? I think this would be super cute, and it’s definitely a great beach-appropriate option.

Clearly I want something colorful, fun, and practical. These guys don’t take themselves too seriously, so we really want to have a little fun with their gifts.

What are other fun options? What did you get your groomsmen?

We did Reef flip flops for all of the groomsmen, and they all loved them!

We did plaid polo shoes that matched the girls dresses (http://t.co/WjRymsv), really love the shoes above that coordinate to different colors.

Like the reef’s idea too!

We’re thinking of doing fun bowties, but might not since we’re not sure everyone would like them…

I like the sunglasses idea, it’d be something you’d know they’d get a lot of use out of.

I really fell in love with the oh so casual yet fun look of a wedding picture with some Chucks! My honey loves Chucks and has lots of them! He asked if he could wear them on the BIG DAY. I promptly said after ceremony and pictures are done! However, it got me thinking that this would be a cool bridal party gift and we could do that cool picture I was talking about!

I can’t believe all your guys have matching tattoos. That’s so cool! We’re doing secret shoes ;-) but more on that later!

Oh - and you should totally do the sunglasses! Awesome!
