I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.

Holiday Cards to Our Vendors

December 23rd, 2010 @ 4:29 pm by Mrs. Brooch

When we picked the month of April for our wedding, it never dawned on me we’d be mid-planning during Christmas. We’ve worked hard to book all the major vendors these past few months, and I have to say I’m extremely excited about our team (photographer, DJ, florist, and caterer).

I have come to really appreciate their work, their ability to negotiate costs, and talk logistics with us; and that’s why I sent them our Christmas card:

We didn’t want to send a card to all of our family members (because they DID just get a picture magnet in the mail from us a few months ago, and I have this thing about bombarding people’s mailboxes with our picture), but we had a few extras. It started with an urge to send one to our photographer (don’t worry, I’ll talk a lot more about her later); then I figured, why not send them to our whole team?

I don’t know. It felt like the right thing to do. Especially because these are the people (outside our family and friends) that are going to make our day, right? We may not know them that well, but there’s no doubt we’ll come to love them after sharing in the most significant celebration in our lives with them.

Did you send them a Christmas card?

Oh yeah, and did anyone else find sending cards was a lot easier this year because you already had all the addresses (for save the dates and wedding invitations)? I love being ahead of the game!

Vendors do appreciate holiday cards from their patrons. We received many this year and the whole team would comment how thoughtful that was that we were acknowledged as playing a part in their life!

We sent them out to all of our ‘big’ vendors. Our DOC, photographer, videographer, and our reception contact. The nice thing was we actually got cards from all of them first!

I didn’t do this - but this totally makes me wish would have! What a great idea!
