Mrs. Tartlet's Picture
Mrs. Tartlet, Rochester, MI Age and Occupation: Age & Occupation: 27, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Medical Student Engagement Date: May 2, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: The Royal Park Hotel About Me: I'm an exuberant gal from the Midwest with a penchant for Neuroscience and anything sparkly. I'm not afraid to poke fun at myself, and I'm a believer that given the right pair of shoes, a girl can conquer the world. While an interest in the sciences threw Mr. Tartlet and me together (again, and again, until it finally stuck), we share a love for many things---food, video games, car dancing, food, bad puns, travel, did I mention food?---that ultimately led us to where we are now, less than five months from becoming Mr. and Mrs. We're planning a laid-back, romantic, garden-inspired affair with organic and quirky touches that reflect our love for the unexpected!

Are You My Venue?

December 27th, 2010 @ 1:49 pm by Mrs. Tartlet

“I do have a venue,” said the bride-to-be. “I know I do. I have to find it. I will. I WILL!”
“There she is!” she said. “There is my venue!” She ran up to it.

Matthaei Botanical Gardens, lush and serene
Surrounded by floral splendor
What bride wouldn’t feel like a fairy queen?
But cold, wet, unpredictable Michigan May
The weather could throw a kink in our big day
No, no the bride-to-be said
There is a venue out there where I will be wed

“I do have a venue,” said the bride-to-be. “I know I do. I have to find it. I will. I WILL!”
“There she is!” she said. “There is my venue!” She ran up to it.

Meadowbrook Hall, a historic house
A picturesque place to take a spouse
Sophisticated, romantic, full of charm
The entire estate is yours
Ballroom, terrace, the entire outdoors
“I do have a venue,” said the bride-to-be. “I know I do. I have to find it. I will. I WILL!”

“There she is!” she said. “There is my venue!” She ran up to it.

Cranbrook House and Gardens

Sculptures, spacious lawns, and fountains
Like walking through the gardens of Versailles
Enchantment abounds
Both of these are European dreams transplanted
But to go with the glamour
Are price tags to make one stammer

And neither is for this bride-to-be

“I do have a venue,” said the bride-to-be. “I know I do. I have to find it. I will. I WILL!”

@Mrs. Champagne: Yes, it is! I took the pic straight from the ‘bee. ;)

I actually didn’t choose any of these 4 venues. :) They were just potentials. The reveal is coming up in my next post!

So, totally unrelated, but I had the “Are You My Mother?” board game. For reals.

Anyway - all of those venues are to die for!

UNIQUE OUTDOOR WEDDINGS - this is the newest trend. This discovery has been the catalyst behind a new wedding venue that just opened in 2010 known as the Silver Hearth Lodge [www.silverhearthlodge.com]. It is the ONLY private mountaintop wedding venue in all of the southeast [Roanoke, VA] and we have witnessed a new and very strong trend in outdoor weddings and receptions being held at one location. We have confirmed the popularity of this OUTDOOR WEDDING trend for 2011 in that nearly 2 out of every 3 brides who have visited our property have reserved a date to be married here. Our brides seem to want a 1)casual atmosphere, 2)incredible mountain views, 3)cost conscious rental parameters, 4)stunning facilities with attention to detail, 5)the breathless majesty of nature, 6)simple, 7)green oriented and 7)more of a family reunion or holiday celebration type outdoor event. It appears that the wedding industry is gravitating back toward the old fashioned values of family, friends, fun, faith and freedom…

When our brides, their families and their guests attend a mountain top wedding here, they wake up the next morning, feeling spiritually renourished, emotionally recharged and financially whole as compared to the by-gone days of “bigger is better.” This new trend seems to be more compatible with what defines the modern day bride and groom.
