I'm not afraid to poke fun at myself, and I'm a believer that given the right pair of shoes, a girl can conquer the world. While an interest in the sciences threw Mr. Tartlet and me together (again, and again, until it finally stuck), we share a love for many things---food, video games, car dancing, food, bad puns, travel, did I mention food?---that ultimately led us to where we are now, less than five months from becoming Mr. and Mrs. We're planning a laid-back, romantic, garden-inspired affair with organic and quirky touches that reflect our love for the unexpected!

Things I Heart: Balloons

December 27th, 2010 @ 8:11 am by Mrs. Tartlet

“Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.”

Before venturing into the world of wedding planning, I always thought of balloons as decor items—not props. Mostly, I had flashbacks to the ’80s (balloon arches, anyone?). However, I’ve learned they’re a creative way of adding just the right touch of whimsy. Whether one or many—they’re so effin’ cute!

I love that each BM has a “bouquet” of balloons instead of flowers:

Don’t you think they add such an unexpected playfulness? I tried to track down a round balloon for our engagement photos, but alas came up empty handed. Is anyone else considering using balloons or some other prop for their engagement photos?

I love balloon pics…they seem so whimsical! We used big round white balloons as props in our wedding pics. They are some of my favorites!

I think I want to include a helium balloon in our photobooth. Maybe a Smiley face one, or a just married, we’ll see what’s available at the dollar store that week.

We also came up empty handed for our epics, but I just confirmed that our florist for the wedding will be able to get some for us. Here’s my fave Balloonlicious Wedding: http://thenicholsblog.com/2009/12/01/sarah-jaime-married/comment-page-1/

I love the way that they line the aisle! Ohh! And that all the balloons are blue, except for the pink one on the bride’s chair! Totally my inspiration!

We loved balloons too and included them in our engagement photos! We are in Texas and found the giant balloons in a pack of 5 at Party City. We even tied a smaller balloon to our dog’s harness sp he could join the balloon fun. They came out so cute! Too bad we didn’t get photos of us releasing them though…at one point we tied them to a car bumper – but as we took other photos they blew away!!!
