DIY Project: Bridesmaids’ Cards

December 29th, 2010 @ 2:02 pm by Mrs. Tartlet

After perusing various blogs filled with crafty, creative ideas, I came across this post on Once Wed. I knew I wanted to ask my bridesmaids to stand up for me in a special way, and this project hit all the right notes. You may also recognize these darlings from one of Miss Cardigan’s earlier entries! I’ll leave the instructive detail to the original post, but here are some pictures of how the cards turned out in my hands!

1. Trimming, 2. Scoring, 3. Folding and tracing, 4. Cutting

All the cut-out dolls lined up in a row

I added details like dresses, different hairstyles, and names.

Personalized belly bands ready to go (That’s my trusty Uniball Signo white pen in the foreground.)

The finished set, ready to be stuffed into an envelope and mailed!

I had so much fun making these, and I think the girls appreciated the personal touches. Did you do something unique for your bridal-party-to-be?

I met one of my bridesmaids for lunch, and was trying to find the perfect time and phrase to ask her…. then I just blurted out “WILL YOU BE A BRIDESMAID?!” in the middle of conversation because I couldn’t wait. :)

My other bridesmaid, I wanted to wait until Cinnamon Buns, and I were with just her and her husband, because we wanted them both in the bridal party. After waiting forever, we finally had the moment, and I said something about needing a bridal party, and they were like ‘yeah, you do have to pick people’. Mr Cinnamon Buns said ‘I think that was her asking you’. We all had a good laugh. :)

I haven’t been visiting the Bee enough lately to keep up with all of you new Bees, but just ran across this post and am so in awe of your style and crafting skills! I’ve seen these done before, but you definitely added your own flair! So adorable! :)

I made picture frames with a cute little poem and a picture of the two of us. All of the girls have them displayed in their homes. I love this idea as well!!

@Mrs. Trail Mix: I did! But, I fashioned them after a font called P22 Dearest Script.
@Miss Cinnamon Bun: I love your stories! I actually squealed it out to my sister/MOH on the phone when I called to tell her I was engaged. ;) We were both screaming like maniacs!
