I also love photography, beating Mr. Eggs Bene at Mario Kart, and watching the most ridiculous natural disaster flicks you can think of (seriously, how can you deny the awesomeness that is The Core or 2012?? About Mrs. Eggs Benedict

Or at least one ring to make me very happy! (Yes, I know the title’s overdone. And yes, I’m completely OK with that.)

I love my ring—it’s so perfectly me, it’s ridiculous. We hadn’t talked much about rings before Mr. Eggs proposed, but I had made it clear that I’m not a yellow gold person. A lot of people I know have princess cut diamonds, and I always thought that was what I wanted one day for myself.

That was until Mr. Eggs started asking me more questions and I realized that my ideal engagement ring has always been my mom’s. My mom has a yellow gold ring with a beautiful round cut center diamond. She now has a 3 stone ring which she got several years ago (she always says the 3 stones represent her three children - awww!). But before she added two stones to the ring (and how I remember seeing the ring growing up), it was a round cut solitaire engagement ring. I’m so glad that Eggs asked me more questions about what I wanted, because I love that my ring is so similar to my mom’s (except that it’s platinum instead of yellow gold).

The last part of this story that cracks me up?

The one night that we looked at rings together online, Mr. Eggs Bene had me absolutely convinced that that was the first time he’d started thinking about what ring he might want to get me. Um yeah. He’d been looking for weeks and just wanted to make sure he knew what I liked. I still have no idea how he managed to surprise me so much, but, well played Mr. Eggs.

Did you choose a ring similar to someone’s close to you?

I also picked a round brilliant in the same size my mom had. Mine has side stones an hers was a solitaire but they’re very similar looking. When we were in the store, looking at over 1000 rings, I realized that my idea of an engagement ring was what I had grown up seeing on my mom’s finger.

We are Ering twins!!! I have the same band and same diamond (not sure about carat, I’m no good with that stuff).
I always thought I would be a princess cut kinda girl as well. Until I tried one on years ago in Grand Cayman. Just wasn’t right for me.

I also have that style, and I love it so much. It’s classic and timeless. My mom doesn’t have a traditional engagement ring - just a yellow gold wedding band.

Thanks all! I always love seeing other people’s e-rings. And especially since I don’t wear lots of jewelry, this was definitely the perfect ring for me.

mine is similar to my mom’s, too! round center stone, yellow gold… the only difference is that my band has diamonds on it while hers is solid gold. I love that little family connection, so I’m glad to hear you have it, too! :)

The same thing happened to me! I thought that I wanted a princess cut. But my mom’s first ring is a solitaire round cut with a yellow gold setting. She later got an anniversary ring with two side diamonds as well. FH got the ring with my big sis without ever asking me. And they came up with a solitaire round cut set in white gold, which I love, and am so happy with. It looks wuite similar to your actually. And I love that my mom and I have similar rings.

The fact that your ring is modeled after your mom’s is terribly romantic! My mom’s wedding band has rubies and so does mine but that’s where the similarities end. Your ring is so classic and pretty!

My twin sister and I got gorgeous gold, diamond solitaire rings from our grandmother when we were 16. I always thought it would make a perfect as an engagement ring. (maybe I’ll have a son I can pass it down to for his bride.) It has this beautiful swirl thing going on around the diamond. I’ve always preferred yellow gold, though I know it’s not in fashion these days. However, my FI thought it would be cool to model my ring after my sister’s Ering. It’s white gold, princess cut, with tiny side stones just like her’s, but has some additional details along the sides and differently shaped prongs, making it a little different. I love it! They make a perfect pair for fraternal twins, similar but different.

Lovely ring! I have something similar, but more simple. My ring is also similar to my moms solitaire, but not as big (I always secretly thought it looked crass. Never realized until now that my ring has a similar setting as hers, but not as chunky! Guess I did use hers as a model after all!)
