Mrs. Hippo's Picture
Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).
About Mrs. Hippo

I’m so glad that we’ve made it past all the holidays. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Christmas and New Year’s, but I am so glad to have all the sweets out of the office and to not be the only person on a mission to get in shape. Bring on 2011 resolutions!

I mentioned my workout calendar before, and I’m happy to report that it’s really helping me stay on track. Let’s take a look-see, shall we? Here’s how I did in December:

The Great Wedding Shape Up Plan - December Recap : wedding dallas fitness Img 1057

I made it to the gym 19 out of 31 days this month. Woo hoo!!! That was just about 4 days a week at the gym, and I’m super happy with that, but I’m planning to kick it up a notch in January and go for 5 days a week. I’m hoping that I can drop four pounds in January. Not only would that be a totally healthy rate of weight loss (one pound a week), but that would also put me right at the weight I like to be at to feel my Hippo best.

So…I’ve said it. So now I have to do it. Even though it sounds silly, I really feel like posting this calendar here and telling y’all about my goals is totally keeping me accountable. Thank you, hive (in advance)!

Who are you relying on to keep you accountable and on track?

I created a facebook group that now has 42 members where we all check in daily to tell each other what we’re doing, and challenge each other to stay on track! It’s really helpful, and I’m like you, I have to check off my calendar!

My roommate and I made a committment to head to the gym together. I’m hoping it keeps us each motivated so go… even on days when we’d rather not! I love the calendar idea!

I started P90X today! Although I know I can’t make the real commitment needed for it (I work retail) I figure if I can get it in 4x a week its better than doing nothing, my 90 days just may take me 120….

And after I did it today I def went a put a smiley face on the calender, the only issue was explaining that smiley face when SO got home (he may have laughed at me) but I find it very motivational!
