Mr. Cheetah Suits Up!

January 4th, 2011 @ 4:21 pm by Ms Cheetah

After I had my gown, it was time to dress my groom. Since we aren’t going the casual (button down and jeans), vintage (suspenders and tweed), or themed (knight in full armor riding in a white horse) route, we have two basic options: tuxedo or suit.

The suit won out pretty quickly. Neither of us are fans of rental tuxes, and a tux seemed a tad too formal for our outdoor desert wedding anyway. Plus, Mr. Cheetah has been itching for an excuse to invest in a snazzy suit. We both agreed on the overall look: black and slim fitting (why, oh, why do so many suits look so huge and boxy??).

We hit up the post-Thanksgiving sales in search for the perfect black suit, not really expecting to find anything.

But when Mr. Cheetah slipped on a slim-fitting Theory suit over his strong, manly shoulders (hey, Mr. Cheetah reads the blog—I need to make sure his ego is good & healthy ;). And he does have nice shoulders.) we knew we had a winner. It was exactly what we were looking for and Mr. Cheetah could not stop raving about how good the fit was. We even spent a couple hours checking out other shops in the mall to see if there was anything better. Nothing even came close, so we headed back to Bloomingdale’s to pick up Mr. Cheetah’s wedding day suit.

I looooove the way Mr. Cheetah looks in his wedding suit! I wish I had a better picture to show you, but I’m sure we’ll get plenty of great pics at the wedding!

Where do you stand on the tux vs. suit debate?

I am in totally aggreement about suits over tuxes. Our parents can’t seem to understand why we wouldn’t put the guys in tuxes (my mom is even putting my dad in one!), but we really thought tuxes were too formal for our outdoor venue.

We went the tux route. However, my honey isn’t the formal type of guy so getting him in anything other than jeans a t-shirt was amazing. He chose everything, style, color, even those cool 50s style black and white loafers. Were having an evening wedding in a casino so it is a bit more formal. I too think the suit looks great on Mr.Cheetah!

I don’t mind a tux if we end up getting married in a church but if the wedding is somewhere less formal I’m pusing for a suit. He wants a tux regardless.

Mr. Cheetah looks so dapper! Mr. French Toast is looking for a slim euro fit suit too..to no avail at Nordstroms with Hugo boss. I should make Bloomies our next stop!

Looking good, Mr. Cheetah! That suit fits him perfectly!
Mr. Panther and I hit up Bloomingdales this weekend, too, except we were hoping for post-New Year’s sales. No dice. The Hugo Boss tux (he’d just wear it with a white shirt and skinny black tie — no vest or cummerbund or any of that nonsense) that I love-love-love is still about three times more than he wants to spend. Sigh.

Wow - he looks great! Mr. Tartlet is also searching for a slim fit suit. Alas, there is no Bloomingdale’s in Michigan. Perhaps a field trip is in order…

My fiance will be wearing a suit similar to the one you chose. Since we’re having a morning wedding wedding in May, I chose a light grey suit with a black skinny tie. I feel your pain on the whole huge boxy suit problem though. We’ve been having to describe what we’re looking for as a JCrew suit–most stores around here don’t have anything like it, meaning it will have to be custom cut and expensive. Sigh.

That suit is great, nice choice.
I think suits look so much better (especially on slim guys) than a tux and it can be worn for years to come.
