Personalized with Passport Stamps

Who doesn’t love a good passport stamp?

{Not my passport}

Since I’m about a week away from my big move to Amsterdam, I have had a couple of chances to look through my passport at all the different stamps and visas I’ve collected over the years. So I’ve also become convinced that it would be a brilliant idea to make personalized travel stamps, and my fabulous event planner/bridesmaid, Laura, convinced me it was not only a good idea, but also a doable one. I know that travel themes for destination weddings are pretty cliche, but they can be so gorgeous. Besides, I don’t plan on having a travel-themed wedding, just a few travel-inspired details here and there.

Here are the stamps I made in Paint…

The problem is that I am not sure how I would go about getting these designs onto a rubber stamp. From what I can tell there are three choices:

1. Complete DIY.

By that I mean I found a number tutorials about carving your own stamps. Here is one from Etsy, using a block of linoleum, and one for carving stamps out of erasers. There are also a number of make-your-own-stamp kits available on the market.

2. Semi-DIY

This would mean designing your own stamp and having someone else make it, on a website like Simon Stamps.

3. Personalized Stamps

I would guess that there are a number of Etsy stores that have pre-designed stamps that they could personalize.

In the alternative, I could just do a psuedo-stamp, which would be more consistent and probably much easier. If I remember correctly, Miss Piglet used a Gocco and Miss Sushi printed travel stamps in her passport save the dates, but has anyone done old-fashioned rubber stamps?

The closest I’ve come is doing an Alchemy request for a custom stamp. I provided the image, she provided the stamp. And the bonus was that I got the clear block kind which I find much easier to use.

I picked my vendor for that ahead of time so it was a private Alchemy request just for her. I’d be happy to share more info if it would help.

I also had custom stamps made by Etsy sellers. They took the images that I wanted (like the cover of our passport programs) and made them into stamps pretty quickly.

Lovely stamps you came up with! If you can really make them into stamps it would be cool, but I think they’ll come out fine even with the printer!

I’ve gone the semi-DiY route with designing a stamp and having it made through rubberstamps.net. I was happy with the results–even the fine details came through!

I love this idea! I really like the semi-DIY route Miss Tartlet mentioned. Sounds really promising.

I also used a custom stamp method. I designed a logo, uploaded the image, specified the size and the stamp was mailed to me. Definitely go that route!

Love this idea. I’m Costa Rican so I am closely watching your posts! I’m so excited for you! I did want to tell you something, not sure if it matters to you or if you have a certain preference but in CR we use “matrimonio” much more than “casamiento.” Like I said, it’s not incorrect or anything just wanted to share it, in case it mattered to you.
