That’s the most clever line I could come up with, and I wholeheartedly apologize for that.

Hello, hive! Holy smokes, I’m a bee. Those were my first thoughts upon receiving the e-mail from Mrs. Penguin. I called Mr. Oatmeal, Mama Oatmeal, and Maid of Honor Oatmeal, and I e-mailed Mrs. Kiwi, who also happens to be my second cousin. I had to spread the news, fast!

I can’t believe I’ve been accepted into a community as unique and wonderful as this one, and frankly, I’m honored. I came across the ‘bee some time ago, even before I was engaged (yikes! I was one of those girls), and at first I didn’t get it. Of course, I didn’t click on the “About the Site” link to learn more; I just started reading all the posts. I thought, for a split second, that the same person was writing all of this craziness. Then I smartened up and realized the magnitude of what I had stumbled upon. AND I FELL IN LOVE.

So here I am, in all my Oatmeal glory for you to see.

Oh yeah, I went straight to our favorite family diner that serves breakfast all day and took a picture with a cup of oatmeal. Could I have made it myself at home? Sure. Am I more dedicated than that? Believe it. I didn’t even eat it for dinner. Just ordered myself a little cup and posed with it. Try explaining that to a confused waiter. And then there’s Mr. Oatmeal making me laugh at how ridiculous I was being.

Can’t you just hear me going “tee hee hee”? I don’t actually laugh like that.

Why did I choose Miss Oatmeal? A few reasons, really:

1. Breakfast, and breakfast for dinner (BFD, as I call it), simply put, makes me happy.
2. I really, honestly eat oatmeal quite often. And I love it.
3. I was starting to have actual dreams about being Miss Oatmeal and how I would introduce myself to the bees.
4. It just felt right.

I’m sure you’re dying to know all about us, our wedding, our crazy lives. Don’t worry—we’ll get there. I have so much to catch you up on! But I will tell you this: I wasn’t so sure about blogging in the beginning. I thought it would be hard. Instead, I’m completely loving the experience and cannot wait to blog for this fabulous community of supporters.

In the meantime, here we are: Mr. and Miss Oatmeal, in our best duds and with our most serious faces.

We are planning the backyard, spring wedding of our dreams. “We” is a loose term here, as Mr. Oatmeal’s involvement (by choice) is limited to planning the honeymoon. More on that later. I can’t wait to get acquainted with y’all!

*Side note: RCJones is my brother. That brother is Mr. Oatmeal’s best friend and, naturally, his best man. Can you believe that? I hardly can, and it’s been four years.
