You may recall our big Marie Antoinette meets Alice in Wonderland wedding, no? It was a pink and purple French inspired confection. Well, if you don’t, here is my inspiration board:

Pretty, right? Yeah, well, that wedding was canceled.

When Mr. R and I decided to have a surprise wedding, I felt like if I tried to recreate our original theme on a smaller scale, it would be bad juju.

Too much stress and drama was attached to the original idea to even give it a second thought. I chalked it up to planning someone else’s wedding and went back to the drawing board.

I’ve been having a major love affair with navy blue lately, so I definitely wanted to include that. Plus a ballet pink because I love ballet and I love pink, obviously. I scanned 100 Layer Cake and Snippet & Ink and came up with a brand new color scheme.

Still girly, but not quite so princessy and perfectly appropriate for a small park wedding.

OH yea - I’ve changed plans about five different times! I think it depended on our mood at the time, the venue we thought we wanted, and the scale of the guest list. Each time though, I think we really refined our style, and truly found what we like (and found what we didn’t like!). I think we’ve reached perfection at this point!

Both color schemes are gorgeous, but I love love love the bold blue with the pink! It’s like a great anchor to the color scheme that keeps it from floating away.

Lovely! Pink and blue is such a timeless color combination, and using navy and ballet pink makes it wonderfully modern!

I didn’t realize navy & “ballet pink” were such a good combo!! (I also love your original color scheme as well.) We went with black and white! And when we realized it was harder to do than we thought (we didn’t know about picking themes and colors -we just thought “we’ll make everything black & white!), we added a splash of claret (red) and damask.

How pretty! I love the flowers especially, but the colors are also so wonderful… Can’t tell which inspiration board I love best but I think you did the right thing in changing and finding something that was more right for you!
