Mrs. Jellyfish's Picture
Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot Engagement Date: February 21, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
About Mrs. Jellyfish

After getting a nice moment alone during our first look, we rallied the troops for some bridal party portraits. Literally.

As you may recall, I really wanted a saber arch for our wedding, but we were worried that we wouldn’t be able to have one due to the fact that servicemembers are overseas so much. Luckily, several of Mr. Jelly’s Air Force buddies, as well as his Marine brother, came out from all across the country for our wedding and made it happen. Love these guys!

This may just be my favorite group shot of the day.

Our photographer captured some artsy individual portraits with the saber arch…

And then it was time to take group shots with our bridesmaids and groomsmen. First up, the lovely ladies:

I also got a shot with my cousin and Maid of Honor, who flew all the way out from Romania to make it to our wedding. She’s like a sister to me.

Our photographer asked if I wanted to take any other individual shots with specific bridesmaids, and I said no because we had such a large bridal party and I felt pressed for time. Looking back, I really wish I had photos with each of my bridesmaids, or at least smaller groups of them. Hindsight’s 20/20, I suppose.

Next, Mr. Jellyfish and his handsome groomsmen struck a pose:

Notice anything different? While I was taking group shots with my ladies, Mr. Jelly changed into a tuxedo. Yes, that’s right—the groom had an outfit change! While I love me a man in uniform, Mr. Jelly decided he wanted to don a traditional tux for our wedding, since he had already worn his uniform to our City Hall ceremony. He did, however, want to have a uniform on for photos with the saber arch guys (and our first look), so I got the best of both worlds. Score!

Our ring bearer dutifully held my train (and kept hydrated!) while the groomsmen took their group shots:

Love it. My husband had a outfit change too. He changed from his red serge (Canadian police) to a tux after the ceremony honour guard part of our wedding.
I used to joke with him that he seems to think our wedding is a Cher concert :)

The saber arch is such a cool tradition - and how wonderful that enough of his friends were able to be there, in spite of military craziness, to make one for y’all.
