I also love photography, beating Mr. Eggs Bene at Mario Kart, and watching the most ridiculous natural disaster flicks you can think of (seriously, how can you deny the awesomeness that is The Core or 2012?? That's right, you can't). We are planning our weekend wedding adventure at an environmental educational center, and I can't wait for the fun to begin!
About Mrs. Eggs Benedict

So What About the Guys?

January 7th, 2011 @ 2:49 pm by Mrs. Eggs Benedict

I’m all about making it easy—so what are the guys going to wear? No idea. That’s Mr. Eggs Bene’s decision. I mean, I get to choose what the girls are going to wear; why shouldn’t Mr. Eggs make the decision for the boys?

Of course, I do have some ideas…mainly that I really love the look of gray suits, and just as I love the look of bridesmaids with different dresses, I’m really liking the idea of the guys each wearing whatever gray suit they might have already (or feel like purchasing). Mr. Eggs wants to get a new suit, so at some point we’ll go shopping for that. It’s helpful that Mr. Eggs Bene has stated pretty clearly that he has no interest in a tux. Which is excellent because I don’t really think that “tux” goes with “wedding in the woods in the middle of February.”

I’m not sure exactly what he wants, but here are some looks that I love.

Yes, I realize that they aren’t all in gray suits, but the mismatched look is kind of what I’m going for. Plus I love Don Draper and am very sad that I no longer have cable and couldn’t watch the latest season. Sad panda.

This is a little bit lighter of a gray than we’re looking for, but I love the pocket-square look, so I wanted to include it.

So now the question is pocket squares or boutonnieres? This last picture really brings home what I love about the look of pocket squares (especially since the flowers of boutonnieres always seem to get so squished with the hugs, the dancing, the throwing off of jackets…what’s the point?). But again, that’s Mr. Eggs Bene’s department, so I’ll let y’all know what he comes up with!

I love the first look and want my fiance and his groomsmen in the same look…problem is trying to get all the guys to buy brand new matching suits!! how are you getting them to do it?

I absolutely love the look of a dark grey-suited wedding party like the first picture, but it’ll be way to expensive for our groomsmen :(

Any thoughts on achieving this look for a decent price??

I feel like you and I are having the same inspiration for our weddings - different bridesmaids dresses and grey suits (they pick their own!). FI is a more petite man, so it had to find him a very particular size that is rare to come by. They don’t have a store here in Seattle, so we put off a portion of his pants (since they were too long anyways) and we cut it up into scraps which we gave the GMs. They can go and get whatever suit they would like that would match that same grey. So far, so good! We are doing matching ties so at least there is a common denominator there.

@Wcoppola: We aren’t doing brand new matching suits, that’s how I’m getting them to do it! Several of the guys already had suits, so they’ll be wearing those again. It was one of the reasons we decided to go with gray.

@lilmisspotato: Again, we’re letting the guys pick their own suits. So if they already have one, great. Otherwise it’s up to them to find something in a price range they’re comfortable with.

@neontl: Exactly - we’re gifting them the ties so that that will pull the look together.

I really like the dark gray suits. I also like the mismatched looked of the second picture. :-)

Those Mad Men are looking sharp with their pocket squares. I always thought it was bouts all the way but now I’m not too sure!

I think I could have written this exact post. I’m not kidding, EB, we have EXACTLY the same ideas. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!

On a side note, I had my very first poached egg today and absolutely loved it :) I’ve never had a runny egg before and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised!

Oh, I love the suits. I finally just talked the FH into a French Cut Calvin Klien Black suit with a pocket square rather than a bout and tux. Oh man, does he look great in it.

Love the pocket square!!! I’d never considered that as an alternative but do now, thanx :-)
