When I’m not traveling, Mr. FT and I enjoy marathon sessions of Law & Order: SVU, snowboarding, photography, spoiling our 3-year old yorkie-poodle Mokka and disagreeing over what music to listen to in the car. We’re planning a small winery wedding while incorporating some cultural elements into the day as a nod to our Chinese backgrounds.

Planning Our Table Numbers

January 10th, 2011 @ 12:04 pm by Mrs. French Toast

Hollywood films sure make San Francisco look like a beautiful city. After all, this is where wedding movies like The Wedding Planner and The Bachelor were filmed. But one important reality that is left out of these fantasy movies is that parking space is not always readily available when you need them. We never see the actors and actresses circling around looking for parking!

When Mr. French Toast and I decided to pay homage to the foggy city by naming our table numbers after iconic streets in San Francisco, we also had to plan on the routes in order to maximize our chances of finding parking. Who knew we had to have a plan for our table plans?

Just when we thought we had the parking situation figured out, we also happened to schedule the photo shoot on quite possibly the coldest day in San Francisco—a mere 40ish degrees Fahrenheit. Mr. French Toast and I, decked out in our “city chic” wear, braved the cold and put on our best smiley faces. Our photographer and good friend Di took it like a champ despite the tears and snot dripping down her face from the chill.

We definitely did not have assistants bringing us hot coffee and a blanket in between takes.

Our plans are to display each photo at the corresponding table and create a table name sign that mimics the look of a real street sign.

What are your plans for table numbers? Do you have a theme or sentiment behind it?

I agree. San Francisco is beautiful but it sure is COLD! That’s a great photo of you and your sweetie. Love the idea!

Very cute! We are doing something similiar. Since the wedding is not taking place in my hometown (of NYC), but in his hometown instead we are going to make the table numbers pictures of parts of NYC that are meaningful to us/me.

No table numbers, but I just wanted to say that I love San Francisco! We got engaged there, and I definitely want to go back, because 5 days wasn’t enough.

Lol that’s really funny, considering the time you’ve spent on those streets it seems fitting :-)

Very cute idea for the numbers!
We’re sticking with our dancing theme and having each table have 2 picture frames, one with a picture of a famous swing dancer, and one with a short bio and if we have any connection to them (like that I met Frankie Manning shortly before he passed away, we do the Dean Collins style of Lindy, etc)

Love this idea! I live in SF, so I immediately perk up when I see posts that pay homage to my favorite city!

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the streets are.

Love this! We are trying to think of some cute ideas for our tables, but we may just go the easy route with plain numbers.
