Mrs. Jaguar's Picture
Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Curzon Hall About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!

The Cake We WILL Be Having

January 10th, 2011 @ 5:45 pm by

You know how with most wedding planning experiences, you’ve got an idea of what you want in your mind, but you’re ultimately fairly flexible in what the final result will turn out like? Well, that’s me with most things so far…except for one. The cake. You guys, I’ve had our cake design picked out from the second we got engaged—maybe even before Mr. Jaguar popped the question, if I’m being honest. ;)

I don’t know how I found it. I just found it. I had a minor panic attack after I had a laptop disaster that wiped out all my bookmarks, but I hunted down all my old emails until I’d found a copy of the photograph. The only downside? I couldn’t find it on the web again. I spent hours, days even, scouring the deepest and darkest corners of wedding-cake-land, and I had no luck. Until one day, I found it again. I don’t know how it happened (again!) but it just did. Honestly, this cake and I are meant for one another. The fates have spoken.

This is going to be our cake.

It will feature either two or three tiers (we’re still undecided on this) with a simple square shape, with no embellishments save for some whippy buttercream frosting, a little ribbon, and some gorgeous flowers. Even me, a self professed hater of anything even remotely pink, adores the super pale dusty rose incorporated with the green buds on this baby. That dusty shade of pink will pop with our wedding colours of grey, ivory, and sage green. It’s absolutely gorgeous! Now to decide on flavours…my mouth is watering already. The Cake We WILL Be Having : wedding cake sydney Icon Wink ;)

Did you have anything that you just KNEW you had to have at your wedding, no questions asked?

I love the simplicity of this cake! You’ve got the tiers that makes it traditional but the texture makes it modern and soph!

Lol beautiful cake, well worth the fixation! I didn’t have anything I knew I had to have at the wedding before getting engaged, but now I have too many! But a must have for me is a photobooth – and I will have it!

Your cake is lovely! I love how simple it is–the buttercream is just charming.

And I’m with Lexsy, once I saw a photobooth at a bridal fair, that became a wedding must-have.

That cake is flawless. I *knew* I had to have these non-floral apple-filled hurricane vase centerpeices from the moment I saw them on the knot (which was an embarassingly long time before I got engaged).

What a beautiful cake! I absolutely love the design & simplicity. It’s simple but absolutely stunning!

I have really had to change my views on a lot of things. We wanted to go away with just our families but couldn’t so instead we are in our hometown instead. =(

I was very decisive on the bouquets & corsages. My mom kept trying to change things and the price (which is REALLY reasonable $500). But I stuck to decision and got my flowers the way I wanted them =)

i felt the same way about my cake – i saw it in a magazine, and thankfully it was a photo collage about a wedding taking place the same place mine was- so i could get the same vendor! mine looked similar – except it was sugared fruit (fall wedding) instead of flowers :)
