I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!

Dressing the Aisle

January 11th, 2011 @ 3:34 pm by Ms Cheetah

This is the aisle I’ll walk down on my way to meet my groom:

Dressing the Aisle : wedding ceremony decor palm springs Westhof Can’t wait to walk down this thing!

When meeting with our florist we talked about sprinkling the aisle with rose petals.

We also discussed the possibility of creating some fancy flower scroll work.

But then a couple months ago I saw this and fell in color-blocked-floral-aisle love:

Dressing the Aisle : wedding ceremony decor palm springs 5206013

Dressing the Aisle : wedding ceremony decor palm springs 5205416 It’s even in our colors!

I immediately sent the images to our florist, and he loves it too. Plus he can do it…but of course it costs extra.

What do you think, Hive, is it worth the extra cost? Or should I just stick to the sprinkled or scrolled petal options?

Those images look gorgeous, but I always wonder what they look like after the entire bridal party and the bride (with a train) walks through them. Wouldn’t that ruin the color blocking? If so, is it worth paying extra knowing that the aisle will likely only look that good in the details and pre-wedding shots?

I think it is super pretty, BUT your aisle is really beautiful as it is. If it’s in your budget and you love love love it, I’d say go for it. But if you are on the fence, and the money is just not there, I think your aisle will be just as pretty without.

It’s beautiful! But it’ll get messed up (unfortunately) with people walking down the aisle before you, so by the time you come down it will look like the 1st photo, of the scattered petals.
If you could maybe have the groomsmen & bridesmaids walk a certain path (around it maybe? I don’t know!) then it would be set for you.

I would do that if my ceremony site was pretty fugly and it needed a wow factor. Your ceremony site has mountains in the background. :) It’ll be gorgeous no matter what you do!

Oh my, this is stunning. I’d say that if your budget allows for it, then go for it girlie! And if you’re going to have to stretch a bit to make it happen, then the photos of your original plan are equally beautiful. Whatever you decide to do will be perfect :)

I think it’ll look fabulous either way. I think it’s up to you and how much you plan to spend. It sure is cool though.

Oh The Viceroy. Those iconic palm trees and cabanas. It’s gonna look great no matter what you do. We did rose petals to line the aisle and they got really messed up and looked like, well, CRAP in the after photos. But Mrs. Cola’s looked great, I really liked it. So then again, if you have the spare funds…

I prefer the scroll work personally, just because the color blocks looks like a hopscotch board!

Also keep in mind, flower petals get slippery when you have a whole bunch of them together- we learned this the hard way at a friends wedding when a groomsmen almost slipped!

My vote is for the scroll look–so pretty!

I love the scroll, but I have never seen the block pattern before! I think it looks pretty awesome and it’s unique! If it’s not too much extra I’ld go for the block pattern!

I saw picture like that too and loved it but I couldn’t get past the mess it would leave behind after the first girl walked down it. Not to mention getting all bunched up under my train.

As much as I LOVE the color blocks, I’d be too worried someone would mess it up. Would you consider an aisle runner with those color blocks painted on?

Or what about gluing down silk flower petals to an aisle runner with this pattern? I have no clue if that would even work or not, but I think it would hold up better to people walking on them.

I agree with others - it would distract from the stunning natural beauty of the setting, get messed up by the bridal party and your train, and it does look somewhat reminiscent of a hopscotch board or tetris game. :) I think a simple smattering of petals would be perfect. In such a gloriously beautiful outdoor space, simple decor can be the key to victory.

I love the colour blocks, but think that randomly scattered or the swirly one would look a little better after being walked on. The blocks design has so many straight lines and corners (obviously, being blocks!) that the slightest petal out of place would be more obvious than in the other two options.

I love the look, but also dont think its worth the extra cost. That being said, if your florist is willing to sweep up all the extra petals and scatter them for you for free - go for it. The beautiful designs are nice, but will get messed up before you even get there AND you have beautiful scenery around you, so you don’t need the flowers to create something beautiful to look at.

As gorgeous as it is, the others are right: that, and the swirled designs, won’t last long enough for YOU to love them!

I vote the traditional sprinkle approach so that it looks just as beautiful before, during, and after the wedding. I’d hate to pay and have someone labor for a good bit of time just to have the first person to walk down the aisle muss it all up, but that’s just me. It’s undeniably beautiful, for sure!
