I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!

The Wall of Wedding Photos

January 12th, 2011 @ 2:16 pm by Ms Cheetah

My grandma keeps a wall of wedding photos from all the weddings of her eight children in her den. When visiting my grandma, I always stop and take a minute to check out all the pictures. With weddings from the late ’70s through the late ’90s, the photos are not only wonderful family mementos, but also an amusing walk through timeand fashion (can you say lavender cummerbund?).

I love checking out all the bridal attire of my aunts! They all made beautiful brides.

The Wall of Wedding Photos : wedding palm springs photography Gmawed My parents are at the very top on the right.

When her grandkids started tying the knot a few years ago, my grandma began displaying photos from their weddings on the adjoining wall.

It was kind of surreal looking over all the photos during the holidays knowing that our wedding photo would be the next one added.

The Wall of Wedding Photos : wedding palm springs photography Gmawed01 There are over 20 grandchildren, so that wall is bound to get crowded. Two more will be added this year—first ours, then my cousin L’s!

How does you family display wedding photos?

That’s so wonderful! All my family runs off to get married, so I’ve never seen any pictures of them. It’s always bothered me. However, we had an actual wedding and our kids will be able to laugh at ours years in the future.

So awesome!!! My grandma does the same thing (2 kids, each had 2 kids). But then she started adding pics of the great grand kids :)

I did this AT our wedding! well, sorta…I have bridal pics of my parents, both sets of grandparents and my father’s maternal grandparents. I also have my husband’s “real mom” and dad’s wedding picture (his real mom passed away when he was 11) - which includes both sets of his grandparents in. But that’s it on his side for actual wedding photos. I do have, though, pro-pics of his (step)mom and dad and his (step)mom’s parents, who he was close to. These are all 5×7 photos in frames in our guest room - but I had them displayed at our wedding!
I love knowing tha we’ll be able to pass these pictures on to our kids and so forth!

My daughter enclosed a card with her save-the-dates asking all married couples to email a digital copy or snail mail a copy(which she scanned and returned) of each couple’s favorite wedding picture. As of now she has over 30 pictures from weddings as recent as last September to as long ago as 1890! They are different sizes from 5X7 to 3X3, and she has framed them in all different frames and attached a small card listing the couple’s name and wedding date. She plans to make an awesome display of all the pictures at her reception along with a sign that thanks people for the inspiration of their marriages.

My family doesn’t really display wedding photos (or any photos, because we’re lame), and Mr. S’s parents don’t either (although his aunt and uncle have a hallway full of family photos, including wedding pictures). WE, on the other hand, are displaying wedding pictures on a wall in our apartment. Right now we’ve got both of our maternal grandparents, both of our parents and a few aunts and uncles. I love it!
