About Mrs. Waffle

OK, I know that sounds absolutely nuts, but if you were in my Broadway Fit or Broadway Performance Workshop classes it would make complete sense. One of my instructors uses theses words with certain movement combinations. You can find him and his partner, two Broadway vets, teaching class where I work every day of the week and their classes are immensely popular. I know this sounds backwards, but I’m fighting daily stress and wedding stress by signing up to be in one of their performance workshop shows in May.

Beating the Stress with a Shang-bang and a Gig-a-lig-a-pop : wedding austin emotional Get Your Fosse On get-your-fosse-on

Yes, you heard me correctly.

One month before my wedding I will be Fosse-ing, shimmying and belting my heart out on the stage. Those 2-3 hour classes every Wednesday night do wonders for me. I get to sing and dance while all of my worries stay packed away at home and the rest of the world melts away. I also find that doing something which brings me pure joy for one night rejuvenates me for the rest of the week. The dancing is usually pretty intense, so I’ll be able to work off a little bit of that holiday weight as well.

How are you beating the stress?

LOVE it! I take a ballet class for the same reason! Dancing is so much work you can’t help but forget everything else! =)

that’s how I beat stress too! I’m so jeaous of that class… I would kill to have a Broadway dance class near me. The best I can do is be in local musicals. Love it!

When I wasn’t waiting on knee surgery I did dance, or plunk down in front of the computer with a stack of DVDs but one of my BMs (a theatre major) is the same way as you. She also goes crazy if she goes to long between shows (which may be why she was juggling two regular shows on top of another exhibition show on top of classes, and came out with a 3.83….)

Yoga! I’d never done an exercise class before and surprisingly enjoy it very much. It cuts down on the number of nights a week that I need to drink to de-stress.

Going to my dance and workout classes are an essential part of “me” time! I feel soooo much better afterwards.

8D That sounds like the best idea ever! The most fun I ever had was when I was performing in musicals! Makes me want to find something like that in WNY…hmmmm…

I usually go shopping when I need to de-stress… a new book, pair of shoes or purse always do wonders for my mood but since we are on a budget now I go to the gym, a step aerobics class and even the library gotta love free books.
