Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.

Honeymoon Hot List

January 13th, 2011 @ 4:43 pm by Mrs. Brooch

I know I should be thinking about the wedding and moving full speed into the final stage of our plans for that, but I can’t stop thinking about Costa Rica. I’m so so so excited for our trip and it’s all I can seem to concentrate on. Instead of buying things for the wedding, I’m buying things for the honeymoon!

Maybe I’m just excited about spring, too. I’m so over the cold! I’m definitely more of a sandals and skirts kind of girl anyway, and my spring wardrobe is way more advanced than my winter one! Nevertheless, I’m always itching to add more to it. For one week in Costa Rica, I’ll probably have at least 14 outfits! The nice thing about going someplace tropical is those clothes take up less space in your suitcase! Score!

How about this cute romper and hot pink sandals…

And for days when we’re wondering through Oxygen Jungle Villa’s reserve, I could sport a cute tank like this one with some jean shorts. I love this kind of look! It’s sexy, but so simple!

I definitely need some new beach clothes, too! Like this cute wrap!

I’ll need a new bathing suit, too! My dream (forever it seems like) has been to wear a two piece (like Mrs. Glasses! Go girl!), but I’ve been looking at these one pieces just in case…they’re still very racy, but might provide that little extra bit of coverage if I feel like I need it!

If that’s still not enough, I’ll have to throw one of these on top.

I think planning for the honeymoon outfits is just as exciting as planning for a wedding :) VS is quintessential honeymoon wear. I like the really sexy ones at: http://www.beachbunnyswimwear.com. Kinda pricey but definitely worth it, for a honeymoon thing!

I’m so excited about shopping for honeymoon clothes :) My wedding isn’t til May, so I want to wait til I’ve gotten my tax refund back and I’ve lost a little weight before I start shopping for skimpy clothes and bikinis. Resort wear rocks!

that romper is SO CUTE! Let us know if you order it - I love it but I can’t quite tell how it would fit (like…would the waist part get over my booty - maybe there is a zipper?).

Make that two of us who can’t stop thinking about Costa Rica! We haven’t booked yet, but it is #1 on our list at the moment!

I was thinking about wandering the jungles of Costa Rica, nature walks and the like, and was wondering myself if it might not be a good idea to bring long pants? I know here they recommend you always hike in long pants because of ticks, and wondered what exciting wildlife might like to nip at my legs in Costa Rica?

I’ve been thinking about honeymoon wardrobe in terms of hiking boots and layers and practical hats. I think I need to start thinking more about what to wear while I’m lounging on the deck and in the pool. That stuff is way more fun!

@Miss Cinnamon Bun: Yes, bring long pants to Costa Rica! It’s much cooler in the rainforest and there are mosquitos. We went to stores like REI and Moosejaw to buy quick dry/water resistant pants. They were excellent. My regular cargo pants got soaked once and didnt dry in time for me to wear them again in Costa Rica. Water resistant shirts are good too because its too warm for a rain jacket (like I wore and sweated in).
