You know that one thing that continually goes wrong to the point of you walking outside, face to the sky, hands lifted, screaming, “WHY?”
For us, it was trying to schedule engagement photos when storms littered the Doppler Radar. I’m talking every single weekend. (And yes, drama queens really do go outside and scream at the heavens, especially when it concerns the weather.)
But you know those ever-optimistic people who, despite a life being in shambles or crumbling before them, lay a calm hand on your shoulder, look you in the eyes, and calmly remind you that everything happens for a reason? Well I have some important news for you nay-sayers:
LISTEN TO THEM. IT’S TRUE.
Had we not had to deal with multiple weather-related reschedules, we would have never been able to shoot on the warmest, most beautiful day this fall. Because we had to reschedule, we were able to shoot in Mr. Jam’s college town as we traveled to our friends’ wedding. And thanks to the reschedule, Mr. Jam’s college friend who lives in that town just so happened to have a tandem bicycle, which we were unable to find anywhere else.
Here’s just a wee smidgen of our favorite photos. If we could, we would blow them up on larger-than-life canvases and cover our home in them, but that might be weird, no?
One of the very, very few kissing photos (per our request).
Note: THIS WAS TERRIFYING. Mr. Jam drove the bike like a mad man.
Teaser! You will see this picture again very, very soon…
This quilt is very special to us, because we used to snuggle up with it during all-night Grey’s Anatomy marathons when we first started dating. So McDreamy, am I right?
I bought Mr. Jam these shoes for his birthday, and now I can’t get him to ever take them off. He was positively giddy to wear them with his favorite socks, so this photo warms my heart.
Photos by Seth and Mary Morris of Seth Morris Photography. We’re obsessed.
They just feel fun, right? RIGHT!? I know. The entire goal of the day was to laugh and have fun, because if there’s one thing the Jams love to do together is laugh cackle hysterically. We don’t always like to stand in wooded areas and sweetly kiss, and we don’t always hold each other close whilst staring thoughtfully into each others’ eyes. It’s just not us.
The theme of the shoot was “Fashion Show With Tons o’ Props, Minus Oodles of Kissing and Snuggles.” What, you don’t think it’s a real theme? Well it is now. Vintage Chanel, my favorite DVF, a crocheted shawl by my lovely grandma, estate sale bow ties, and a yellow Schwinn tandem bike we saw on Mr. Jam’s friend’s Facebook. Everything we wore were things we already had hiding in our closets.
Such an amazing time with barrels of laughs and bright red lipstick kisses all over Mr. Jam’s face. And guess what? He didn’t even complain. I love the bejezus out of that guy, seriously.
What about you guys? Did you have any scary e-pic sessions? Were you tired of kissing endlessly for hours in front of a camera? Or were you blessed with amazingly epic photographers like ours? Did you go the prop route, too? Let’s chat photos!
