Dreams Don’t Always Come True

January 13th, 2011 @ 2:38 pm by Miss Oatmeal

Have I ever mentioned that I love the Food Network? Because I do. And while I like most of the shows/chefs on there, there’s always one that keeps me coming back for more.

Oh wait, was that you saying you’d like to see more of him? Here you go.

Just look at the way he grinds that pepper. Anyway, I promise you this is a wedding-related post. (Although if you’re like me, it doesn’t matter because you’re too busy looking at his pictures to care.) Ladies, isn’t there just something about a man that can, and actually likes, to cook? It’s funny that that’s something I would find attractive in a man, since Mr. Oatmeal not only can’t cook, but also doesn’t really appreciate food the way I do. Just one of the many differences we have that somehow make us work.

Well I just came across this, and the following went through my head: “Whaaaa? He caters weddings? Why didn’t I think if that? Oh yeah, because he’s an incredibly famous and talented chef, and there’s no way we could have afforded him anyway. And we already have our caterer. But I’d ditch our deposit in a hot second if this could be arranged. One can dream.”

So, naturally, I did a little digging (while I was on the topic of Ty anyway) and found this. He owns Wayfare Tavern, a restaurant in San Francisco.

Again, “Whaaaa? We were just in San Francisco for our engagement pictures, and had I known this we would have totally gone there for dinner.” Then I Google mapped it, and it was, get this, 0.2 miles away from our hotel. A whopping three-minute walk. I wish I weren’t so upset.

And I don’t know about you, but that “Devils on Horseback” starter sounds, well, devilish. And not to mention the design of his menu…genius. I will never cease to be impressed by this man.

Please chime in and tell me that I’m not the only lady who dreams of a wedding catered by the one and only Tyler Florence.

Umm, Tyler Florence is the man. I am a Bobby Flay gal myself, with a touch of Anthony Bourdain (who I MET at a book signing in October!) ;-)

So with you, Oats. Tyler’s pulled pork sandwich recipe is one of my staples!

@Miss Tartlet: YES - my favorite. When I make the BBQ sauce… there is not a DROP left in that pot!

oh, i’m sorry. was there a post? i got distracted by the pretty pictures of tyler.

but seriously, i would TOTALLY have tyler cater our wedding if we could swing it. especially since i loved his pulled pork sandwiches [i've used his recipe...yum!] and i’m obsessed with having pulled pork on our menu. my mister is like yours, while he can cook [thankfully] he isn’t that into food like i am. i’m just glad i’m friends with other foodies.

if you’re up north again, you should totally try his restaurant in napa, rotisserie & wine, and order a cheese puff. it is phenomenal. i had one last month and i’m still raving about it. seriously, get on for both of you. you will not want to share.

this is a smidge embarrassing, but I love my some Paula Deen… we’re thinking of going to Charleston on our honeymoon, and I’m praying that I can talk my guy into a day trip to Savannah for the sole purpose of ingesting impressive amounts of butter at her restaurant. Yum!

I’ve totally got the hots for Tyler Florence. Mr. Rainbow fortunately appreciates food like I do, but he can’t cook to save his life, poor guy!

I actually saw him cook in person once at The Big E in Springfield, MA a few years back. Best hour ever! He makes food & cooking ridiculously sexy. Trust me, if there was ever a way to have that man cook for me, I’d be all over it.

What’s the damage for a TF catered wedding? I’m peeking out from behind the hands over my eyes, waiting for the sticker shock.

Oh yeah, he’s a hottie. Didn’t know he owned the Wayfarer’s Tavern. Heard of it. Now that we are living in the city I need to visit. If I see him I’ll take a few snaps for you and maybe let him know about this post! Kidding :)

Oh yea! Tyler Florence all the way! I love his show coz he makes it so easy to cook! For him to cater our wedding? Heck yea! Except I’m already married and we probably can’t afford it. The closest I can do is go to his restaurant in SF. Reserved it last year and we’re going this February. Yup, it takes about 2 months to reserve for a good time and day. I’m a foodie, my hubby not so much. But he’s starting to open up.
