And...the Crazy Wedding Dreams Have Begun : wedding emotional hawaii Wedding01 Wedding01

Crazy wedding dreams.

You know, the ones where everything feels vividly real but everything is going horribly wrong. No one ever warned me about these….and now, about once a week, they appear and make me feel like I’m losing my mind!

The latest one was particularly frightening.

In this episode, I was getting ready to walk down the aisle but my family was nowhere to be found. But the music started playing so I just went…all by myself. Then as I was walking down the aisle, I realized a few things:

#1 my bridesmaids weren’t my friends. Instead, they were 3 random blonde girls who were beaming at me like we’ve known each other all our lives.

#2 Instead of stepping onto powdery white sand, I stepped into a rustic barn—charming, but a far cry from the wedding by the sea we had planned.

And #3 Our photographer was NOWHERE to be found. And no one else was taking pictures. SO WEIRD.

And just like that, the heart started racing and I officially started to freak out. But I kept walking down that aisle in that barn and towards the one thing that made sense in this crazy crazy dream—Mr. Ostrich. He was there, perfect and eyes shining.

We got hitched, our photographer showed up and hour into the reception and, like my bridesmaids, wasn’t our real photographer. But by that point, we were married and nothing could ruin my bliss.

I’m hoping that this zany wedding dream was a prep course for how to deal with things going awry on the day we’ve been planning, DIYing and dreaming of for 18 months. There will be a chance that the decor will be set up funky…and the music could skip…and someone could be late. But at the end of the day, it’s all about the love, right?

That’s what I keep telling myself, anyways. :)

Bees, have you started having crazy wedding dreams? What’s the CRAZIEST one you’ve had?

My worst wedding nightmare (so far) was that it was the day after my wedding, and I couldn’t remember anything about the day. It was like I had blacked out and skipped from the day before to the day after. Completely awful!

I had one just two nights ago! I realized right before the wedding that I forgot to order flowers. Everyone was scrambling, trying to find me some, but they couldn’t. I got to the wedding flower-less…and in a horrible brown dress.

i had a pretty bad one a few nights ago. i actually missed my wedding…i got to the venue, got to the top of the aisle and realized i didnt have on my dress, my shoes, my flowers, nothing was done, and there was no food or anything. i freaked out, ran home to grab everything (while everyone was waiting at the venue, seated…) i tried to finish making everything and hurried back to the venue, hair a mess and dress pretty wrinkled. when i got back everyone. was. gone…i was getting angry phone calls from him and his family about me being a run away bride and leaving him at the alter and all this crazy stuff. i couldn’t get them to understand that i was trying to finish up all the wedding stuff and i still want to marry him but they wouldnt listen…i woke up panicky and im haulin butt on my checklist now lol. i literally (in the past week) have finished my std’s, my rsvp cards, bought the rest of the stuff for my invites, updated my guest list, called my venue to set up a meeting for all the details. oh ya im in bride over drive now lol

I had one last night. I was there at my venue and all the guests had shown up but we didn’t have anything ready. No food, no chairs, no photographer, no officiant, no dress…. I woke up feeling sick with worry this morning.

I am totally plagued with wedding dreams. Craziest one involved the guests of three different weddings all in one church and the only thing that changed from ceremony were the brides and grooms. Not even the wedding parry changed!

I had my first wedding dream last week! None of the vendors, nor my wedding planner, showed up for the wedding. And my fiance was so nervous about standing up in front of people that he was plastered against a wall and refused to meet me at the altar!

I should preface this by saying that I’m a grad student doing on the academic job market in the humanities.

I had a dream that I was in a big lecture hall. I was supposed to both give a job talk and get married, and I hadn’t written my talk and couldn’t find my wedding dress.

Two anxiety dreams for the price of one!

I haven’t…but my sister did have a dream that no one showed up. Our dad went water-skiing with the pastor, and the rest of us hit a big sale at the mall. lol

My crazy wedding dream was when I was marrying Bruno Mars… (yes Bruno Mars!).. and I kept saying, “no, no no no I am not marrying you! I want to marry Mr. French Toast!”.
The wedding wasn’t too shabby though, because Bruno was serenading “Nothing on You”. hahaha..

I had a dream I was at the reception, everyone was having a great time and then suddenly it hit me - we hadn’t said our vows at the ceremony. The minister had FORGOTTEN to marry us! I was really upset for a second and then I told my mom and when she started crying I said, “It’s okay mom, the idea that he would forget to marry us is ridiculous, this must be a dream. Let’s just enjoy this because it’s obviously not the real thing.”

It was the first time I ever knew I was dreaming while in a dream (I actually thought that wasn’t possible) and it made me laugh when I woke up - at least I was able to logically figure it out.

I’ve been having these nutty dreams, where the wedding is happening right now and I haven’t figured out all the details/schedule yet, where my dress was torn and inexplicably purple instead of ivory, etc. Somehow, I always stay calm in the dreams, and am just like “can’t do anything about it now, just going to try to enjoy the day.” But when I wake up, I think about all the planning I have left to do to avoid that!

Ha I love this! I haven’t had any lately but right after we got engaged, I had a nightmare! I don’t know why because I love this woman to death, but my MIL-to-be was taking care of all the little details for me because I was too busy. I let her order my wedding dress, and didn’t go with her to pick out her dress. When the wedding day came she brought in two dresses a white one and a black one….. guess who the black one was for, ME!! It had a HUGE rosette thing that covered the whole belly area. She put her gown on, smoothed it out, and said “oh I had them add that, you know, to cover any pudge you may have”!!! I was standing at the head of the isle tearing at that huge black rossette when I awoke!!

When the wedding day came she proudly marched in two dresses, a white one and a black one. Guess who the black one was for, ME!! I was terrible with this HUGE rosette thing that covered the belly area! She put on her white gown, smoothed it out, and said to me, “Oh, I had them add that to cover up any, you know, pudge you may have” (!!!) I was being pushed to the beginning of the isle, while trying desperately to tear that rosette off when I awoke!!

Mine started about 2 weeks after getting engaged!! Ahh!! The craziest one was someone asked me to push my wedding up to the next day so we could have a joint wedding and I did. Then suddenly I realized I didn’t have a cake, a dj, my dress or anything else! I was crying and panicking while I begged them to let me back out. I kept saying “please I want to get married, just not like this” Oh, it was terrible. Thank goodness it was just a dream.

Bride brain is an evil thing! ;)

Just this morning I dreamt my hair and make-up artist didn’t show up. With all of our guests waiting and food prepared, dream-self decided to skip the ceremony and go straight to entertaining. Two hours into the party, the vendors show up and are annoyed with me for being upset.

Guess my brain is telling me to make sure everyone knows where to go, when to be there and have a Plan B!

My mum likes to tell me a joke that my father was as the barber shop, getting his hair done and being shaved while she was waiting in front of the shop in her dress
