I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
About Mrs. Giraffe

So, You Wanna Plan a Wedding, Kid?

January 17th, 2011 @ 9:12 am by Mrs. Giraffe

Yes, it’s true, when titling this post I was thinking of that Disney Hercules song where whatshisface was singing, “Well, you want to be a hero, kid, well whoopdeedo.”

Anyway, that’s not important. What is important? That I was born to plan this wedding!

No, seriously, I was. That’s why I get so excited about wedding planning, I think. I was trying to describe to Mr. Giraffe about why I’m planning all these DIY projects and crazy things and I finally told him, “I think of this wedding as the biggest craft project of my life, and I love craft projects!” I do, I really do. I love crafts and have been a crafty kid all my life, which I think led to me going into a creative field as a semi-grown up.

I may not have a craft closet, like Terry...

But I do have a ping pong table in my parents’ basement that I scrapbook on!

I have a 5″ Xyron Sticker Maker in there somewhere too. Mama Giraffe actually got it for me for my 13th birthday, after the scrapbooking bug had bit me, and it still works great! I’ve gotten so much use out of that thing!

Also, Mama Giraffe is even more awesome because she got me a much-coveted Cuttlebug for Christmas! Whoo!

Anyone else plan on repurposing their everyday craft materials for wedding-a-palooza?

Omg… it looks like heaven! I want to go to there…
I may have to show your post to my FI this evening because “wedding = biggest craft project ever” explains how I feel about it, too :)

I totally want to come scrapbook with you now! I’m the exact opposite. I’m repurposing wedding supplies for every day crafting. In fact, I blame it all on the wedding now. All. Of It. ;)

I am so envious. Even if someone gave me all those gadgets, I wouldn’t know the FIRST thing to do with them. I can’t wait to see your wedding recaps. Your wedding is going to be so awesome :)

Not bad, it must be great to be able to use all your crafting supplies and skills for the wedding! That’s not at all how it is for me, as I’m a complete not crafty person - I started considering this whole new world only after a got engaged! So I’m still taking baby steps, but am enjoying each and single one of them!

That’s exactly what I said right after getting engaged! The wedding will be my biggest craft project yet!
I love my Cuttlebug, but I really don’t know if it’ll get used for the wedding yet. Nothing planned with it so far…
