Mrs. Pancakes's Picture
Mrs. Pancakes, New York/Costa Rica Age and Occupation: 26, Law School Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Latin American Policy Analyst Engagement Date: March 12, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Casa Punto de Vista About Me: I’m a perfectionist with a big heart. I love a good laugh and firmly believe no one has ever regretted being prepared! My motto is “go big or go home.” I am incapable of doing anything in moderation, especially when it comes to shopping, TV, food and travel, and some would say wedding planning! The other half of this nearlywed team is a laid-back, adventure-loving, accident prone, sweetie from LA. He makes me laugh, is always down for an impromptu dance party, and totally indulges most of my hare-brained schemes. Now, in my final year of law school, we’ll be spending the spring abroad in Amsterdam and planning a DIY, whimsical, detail-filled destination wedding in Costa Rica!
About Mrs. Pancakes

A Labor of Love

January 18th, 2011 @ 8:09 am by Mrs. Pancakes

My STDs were designed and printed in Stamford, Connecticut. I took the Metro North up to Stamford and met with my bridesmaid LA. Immediately, LA got to work in her home office. (She does this for a living!)

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Dsc0000 This is me giving her a thumbs up! I was pretty useless. At some point I have so many ideas that I become indecisive, so I just provide general statements of approval.

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Dsc0001 We finally got them printed!!! The above photo is LA checking out the prints and making sure they were consistent, the black was black, and all the edges were clean. She even washed and cleaned the printer after every four or five sheets. I love that my friends are perfectionists. :D

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Dsc000101 Then she cut and hole-punched the individual save the dates. She punched little semi-circle notches in the sides of the STDs because we tied a piece of twine around each invite. I thought it was a cute symbol of sorts, since we used “tying the knot.” I know it’s a little cheesy, but I like it. :D

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Dsc000001 Because were were ignoring her cat, he made sure to remind us that he was around!

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Dsc000102 My job was to put holes in the calendars for the little heart-shaped brads.

After designing the STDs, the next step was to line the envelopes. We went to Paper Presentation and picked up some high-quality kraft-paper envelopes and loads of scrapbook paper. I clearly couldn’t pick just one, so I picked up everything that caught my eye. Mr. Pancakes picked the one with the pink elephants.

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Img 124 Then I traced an envelope onto some card stock to make a template.

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Img 12401 Once I had the basic size of the envelope, it was easy to figure out the size and spacing I wanted for the liner.

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Img 12402 Then I cut out the template and just traced it onto the paper. This is actually the back of the paper. Mr. Pancakes was in charge of the cutting and the stuffing, and I did all the gluing.

Here’s what they looked like when they were done!

A Labor of Love : wedding costa rica save the dates Img 125 Super easy and the whole project, envelopes and paper, cost a little less than $50.

And this is the final product!

Are you sending save the dates? What do yours look like?

It is a nice blog it is a wedding side.It is very nice to see hw to wedding. We’ll also have our wedding in Bacolod next year in May. We’re here in Australia but our wedding planner-coordinator is doing all the legworks. You just have to tell her your preferences. It is advisable to book early. There are a number of nice wedding churches–big ones.It is wedding blog. Also the wedding planner i contacted will charge 10% of my budget which means if i spend more she’ll or he’ll get more and of course she/he will have some cuts on all the vendors that she/he will going to get for my wedding.

These are gorgeous! Well done indeed. Love the twine knot. And I’m super impressed with the cleaning the printer after every 5- I have to learn that kind of patience!

Wow, these are so cute. Um, do you live in Brooklyn? I might have to hit you up to teach me how to do that template for the liner because I might be using those kind of envelopes.
