About Mrs. Eggs Benedict

My Something Blue

January 18th, 2011 @ 3:40 pm by Mrs. Eggs Benedict

I love the colored-shoe trend. (Yes, that is one trend I’m totally on board with!) Mainly because it’s one trend that won’t cost me more money—if anything, I’ll be saving money because I can wear these again, unlike a pair of white or ivory heels which, let’s face it, would only be worn on my wedding day.

But with so many shoes out there, what to pick? I’m pretty set on blue shoes. (They’re my something blue!) Plus it’s one of our main wedding colors, and it’s my favorite color. Besides—after seeing pictures like this, how can you not want blue shoes?

I’m looking for a darker blue for my shoes and, so far, these are my top contenders:

I really love all three of these for different reasons, and given the easy-to-order and easy-to-return feature of Zappos and Endless, I think I might just order them and see which ones feel better. I also need to keep in mind that my dress is just about the perfect length already with a couple-inch heel, so the higher heel might be too much with the dress. Plus, there’s my comfort to keep in mind…as much as I love heels, I do not do well at wearing them all night. Which means I really need to keep an eye out for cute flats as well…

I have the Ninas in pink and they are pretty comfortable! And not a high heel at all!

I wore the ninas in ivory, and they were the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn. All that said, they are very lovely!

I don’t know what your budget is, but I got the Badgley Mischka Randalls in blue and I am ob-sessed. http://couture.zappos.com/n/p/dp/66014848/c/8517.html (they are a bit darker in real life than in that photo, FYI)

I was a blue shoe bride! I wore a pair of peep toes from RSVP with a pretty low heel.

@Charcole2011: I LOVE those but they are definitely out of my budget! Thanks for the link though!

I love how many people are wearing blue shoes!

I’d be willing to sell you my unused Ninas! I bought them, but ended up finding another pair that was more my style.

Just ordered those Nina’s in raspberry today from Zappos. I’ve read mixed reviews on comfort but the color and heel height appear to be good so I’m going to wear them around the house and decided for myself.

I love colored shoes! I really like all the ones you showed.

I plan on having purple shoes, as it’s my fave color. I want eggplant/aubergine. :-)

I bought two pairs of blue shoes! One pair of royal blue pumps, and a pair of navy blue sandals (I plan on wearing both). The sandals are Jesenia by Nine West. I looooove them!

if you’re shying away from high heels, PLEASE take my piece of advice. If you want flats, look at the “flats” option on any shoe site. However, if you want anything of a heel, like a small wedge, you’re so much better off looking at the “pumps” option and specifiying the lowest heel height.

It sounds totally obvious, but I would have saved myself a good number of shopping hours if I had realized that little difference earlier in the shopping process. Good luck!

Blue shoes are going to be great! There are tons of flats out there that are super cute if you’re worried about sad toes at the end of the night. Just make sure that you hem your dress to the flats, too.
