STD Saga – The Final Chapter

January 19th, 2011 @ 4:17 pm by Mrs. Lox

So you’ve seen the envelope and heard my crazy tales of embossing gone wrong but eventually right. But what, you might ask, is actually inside that carefully decorated envelope?

If I were you, I’d be anticipating some equally DIYed goodness. And I’d be waiting with bated breath to see how I screwed up lovingly crafted the STDs (*snort*). The bottom line is—if I were you? I’d be disappointed.

The truth is, the STDs (*giggle*) were one of my first wedding purchases. That’s right—I simply bought them. I had a coupon code for Shutterfly, and both Mr. Lox and I loved the idea of having our picture incorporated into the STDs (*laugh*). So I ordered them from a stock design. What can I say? Neither one of us is a graphic designer. Luckily, we both have wallets and jobs that pay.

So without further ado, I am unveiling the completely non-handmade but still totally us STD (*snicker*).

STD Saga – The Final Chapter : wedding baltimore save the dates Lox12 lox1

There you have it—our lovely save the dates (just couldn’t type that again!) from Shutterfly.

Bonus points if you remember why that picture is special to us!

Did you choose to send STDs (*gurgle*)? Why or why not?

Ha, love them! I would have really enjoyed using a photo of us, but we haven’t got any engagement shots done yet.. so boo! I’m SO glad I’m not the only one who giggles at STD’s, even months and months of planning later. I’m secretly 12.

I chose to send them and chose to spare our guests even more pictures of us. Went for simple & country chic.

As for “STD”, I always make sure to tell people, “I’m glad you got the STD, I gave you.” ;)

Love ‘em, Lox! They’re perfect, and it’s really no biggie to not DIY everything. Our STDs were a simple picture, and we got a great response from our guests. I’m certain your guests will adore them!

I think they’re awesome! I love the colors! And that’s the bench where he proposed, right? :)

I love them and think they make your monogram even cooler than I already thought it was!

@thekindbride: You are KILLING me! I can’t bring myself to say “STD” out loud yet. I think I typed it once to Mr. Lox and he almost had a fit. ;)

@Miss Panther: You win! What you win, I don’t know. But that’s totally where we got engaged.

For what it’s worth, our guests loved them, and I still love them too. I’m glad I ordered enough extras that we have one just for ourselves too! :)

I’m confused. Why is your wedding date blurred out? It’s listed right in the sidebar as part of your bio. I’m all about keeping your privacy, but it seems silly to blur it out when it’s listed right next to your post.

I totally get the confusion. But that’s my engagement date, not my wedding date. The sidebar says my wedding is in May of 2011, which is the info I left intact on the image as well.

Totally agree with everybody else: They look great & not DIY-ing them is no biggie. Sometimes I think people get too wrapped up in the whole “impress-your-guests-at-every-turn” thing, you know?

And seriously, proposal bench? Love it even more!

They are perfect!! And don’t feel bad about the fact you bought them, nowadays it seems like if you haven’t diy your invites or centerpieces your wedding will not be “personalized” or “you”, but I think nowadays it’s all a bit exaggerated. Your STDs are lovely!

I think the monogram, the envelopes and the Save the Dates turned out super cute.
