Mrs. Giraffe, Chicago Age and Occupation: 23, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Music Student Teacher Engagement Date: October 23, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Trinity Lutheran Church & Idlewild Country Club About Me: Coming from the suburbs of the Windy City, you'll often find me with my foot in my mouth while laughing for no reason or telling bad knock knock jokes. I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
About Mrs. Giraffe

A New Bathing Suit…or Two

January 20th, 2011 @ 6:28 pm by Mrs. Giraffe

Ever since I read Brooch’s post about potential honeymoon attire, I’ve been totally distracted. Seriously, I don’t know why it hadn’t occurred to me before, but after reading that she was looking for a new bathing suit (and more), I had a crazy moment of “I NEED a new one, too!” Since then, I’ve put all this wedding planning out of my mind to focus on the big h-moon coming up (Darn you, B, for distracting me!).

I totally need to clue you in on our honeymoon, but since I haven’t written that post yet, I’ll just let you know we will be spending a week on a beach.

Anyway, I had no idea where to look for a suit at this time of the year. It’s only, you know, a cool 20 degrees in Chi-Town today. I knew I’d have to shop online, because nowhere in the area is carrying swimwear right now. I went to the boards for help, got got some great suggestions, but ended up going to Kohl’s.com. I didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money, seeing as I’m saving my cash from some—ahem—different pieces of honeymoon attire.

I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Kohl’s, but it’s kind of like a JC Penney.

There’s a store right by my house, and I pretty much get all my clothes there. Out of what I’m wearing today, my jeans, shoes, and bra all came from there. Yes, I just mentioned my bra. You didn’t know I’d get all personal.

I was only going to buy one bathing suit…but I couldn’t make up my mind, and then partner in crime, Mama Giraffe, somehow convinced me to get them both.

Honeymoon, here I come! So here are the goods (yes, I still shop in the juniors department. Don’t judge me.) All screenshots come from Kohls.com.

I was going to use my 20% coup, but found a 30% off one online, and the pieces were already on sale before that. Then I was able to use a free shipping coupon too, so needless to say, I got a pretty good deal.

Any other Chicagoans dreaming of sunny beaches? Oops—I mean, anyone else shopping for their honeymoon?

You post just reminded me that I missed a free shipping sale this afternoon on the bathing suits I wanted. So to me - dammit. To you, those are super cute! :)

I bought several of my bathing suits for my honeymooon at Kohls.com. :) I got a super great deal on 3 suits since I bought them right as the season was ending and all the swimsuits were on clearance. I still shop in the Juniors department too, so no judgement here! :)

Aw, thanks for the shout out! That bug is contagious, though, right? Well, I have to admit, it was somewhat of a relief to break from the wedding for awhile! I don’t know why I didn’t think of Kohls though! I’m SO jealous! I LOVE LOVE LOVE those tankinis! I couldn’t find any cute ones. Victoria’s secret is ALL two pieces (boo!). I might have to cop one of these and be matching you! Haha! Wouldn’t that be something!

I was dead set on getting a new bikini for our honeymoon, and I love the one I got from J. Crew, it’s got ruffles and it’s purple plaid!

I am dying to get myself a red bikini for our Caribbean honeymoon. Fingers crossed that I find what I’m looking for somewhere or other!

LOL! I used to collect Lisa Frank stickers (’cause I am/was a big nerd like that) and you are so right…that bikini totally reminds me of Lisa Frank :)

I haven’t bought a new bathing suit since 2006 (yikes), so I definitely splurged by buying two new bikinis. I am ready for some sunny honeymoon beach days.

I’ve also been stocking up on wedding lingerie. I love it so much that I think I’ve bought enough for a different lingerie each night! lol The future hubby will be pleased no doubt.

It’s like -17 windchill out there today in the frozen Tundra we call home (and Chicago). I’m totally surfing around looking for a beachy getaway!

@Miss Waffle: I wrote a letter to Lisa once. . . I made every word a different color. How obnoxious is that? hehehe
@Mrs. Glasses: My fav suit ever is from Target!
@Miss Lox: Oh no! Watch out for the next one!
@LittlestBirds: No way! I had no idea J Crew carried Swim Wear! Thanks for the heads up!
@Miss Brooch: If you do, I’m seriously photoshopping us together in our matching suits ;-). Hehehe, but really, you’re a genius, I need a wedding break. For real.
