Trying to Find Wedding Day Flats

January 20th, 2011 @ 3:53 pm by Mrs. Brooch

I finally ordered a pair of shoes for the wedding. FINALLY.

For whatever reason, I’ve put off this task until the very last minute. I’ve always known I wanted to wear flats, but what brand, what color, and what type has all been a complete mystery!

I really wish I would have started shopping for shoes a lot sooner, too! I feel like I’m down to the wire and grabbing for anything. I have NO IDEA what shoes to wear…and is anyone else bothered by how much a pair of flats can cost? Sheesh!

The shoes I really, really wanted are too expensive. Seriously, they are SO cute and SO perfect for our wedding, but they’re SO expensive! I’m a girlie girl, don’t get me wrong, and I love shoes (and I did say I’d spend $500 on chairs), but the truth is that it’s just not in the budget! Boo!

They’re so pretty, though. I have to indulge myself one more time. They’re such gorgeous butterfly peep toes:

Aruna Seth, $475

When I gave up on the Seth shoes, I got my heart set on this pair of rosette blush flats from Ruche, but - you’re not going to believe this—I waited too long to make the order, and guess what? They’re sold out of my size. I’m tempted to order a 9.5, but that just seems silly. I definitely don’t want to be sliding out of my shoes on the big day! I guess I’ll just have to wait it out and see if more come in stock or pick another pair. That’s strike two! How perfect would these Garden Blush Flats have been?

Ruche, $60

Now you’re beginning to see why I’m so mad at myself for not buying these (or any other shoes) when I first saw them. Ugh. Anywho… In my spite, I went ahead and ordered a pair. They were affordable and they were in stock. At this point, you can imagine how good that sounded! Here they are:

Endless, $22

They’re cute, right?

They’re OK. I’m not sure they’re enough for me, if you know what I mean. We’ll have to see how they look with my dress; in the meantime, I’m still looking and here are a few of the runner ups…the ever so gorgeous bling-flower flat:

Zappers, $93

The bow-tie flat:

J. Crew, $70

The Steven Madden glittery flats:

What do you think of my selection?

Are you wearing flats? Where are they from?

The rose flats are Chinese Laundry. You can’t find them on another site?

I ordered a pair of Nina Beamers from Zappos, and they were OK, but not quite it.

I LOVE the butterfly detail on the first, and I know that butterflies are your thing… why not buy a basic pair of flats and see if you can get butterfly shoe clips on etsy? That way, you can have a lot of flexibility with the comfort/color/fit of the shoe itself but still get your bling and your theme!

Have you tried ebay to see if you can find your shoes? They usually have everything if you look hard enough. I found my dress on ebay when i couldn’t find it anywere else (i almost had i tailored). Buying it on ebay i paid about one 10th of the price.

So your endless pink ones with the ruffle? Look almost IDENTICAL to the silvery pair I found for my wedding day flats - really! :) They’ll be up on the blog in about a week!

Loving the endless flats with the ruffle, and the glitter flats (of course, I just love glitter to begin with), and the big flower flats from zappos. Lots of great choices!!

Have you tried Vera Wang Lavender Label? I just bought these for my wedding and they are sooo pretty and comfortable! http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod121570046&eItemId=prod121570046&cmCat=search&searchType=MAIN&parentId=&icid=&rte=search.jhtml%253FN%253D0%2526Ntt%253Dlavender%252Blabel%2526_requestid%253D41623

They are expensive, but not as much as the Seth shoes!

@Miss Brooch: They are awesome. Totally out of my budget, but I talked myself into it since I will definitely be wearing them post wedding. In fact, its going to be hard not to wear them before the wedding.

The butterfly ones are so pretty and fitting! The shoes you chose are cute but not as elaborate as your original two. TBH, I changed out of my wedges right after the ceremony into flip flops and nobody even saw my feet the whole night!

@Heather: I finally broke down and got the Vera Wang shoes too!! I just couldn’t find any others that I liked as much and I figured I’d wear them again. I think I’m more excited about them than I am about my dress!!
