Mrs. Barrettes's Picture
Mrs. Barrettes, Tumon, Guam/Napa, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Dancer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Licensed Building Contractor Engagement Date: November 16, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: V. Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!
About Mrs. Barrettes

After getting over the rush of our first look at each other, we settled down just a bit and Luke took a turn at directing a quick photo shoot. During our pre-wedding correspondence, I told Luke we were open to fun and unique photos. Of course, there is a time and place for super-formal looking shots, but I like relaxed ones too, and wanted to make sure to get a few silly ones.

Posing for your wedding photos can be hard. I was giddy and excited and didn’t know whether we should be “doing something” or just acting how we felt and letting Luke use his eye to pick up the shots. He was great at placing us in good spots and then letting us act however we felt.

We have a history of these fun “mini-me” shots and naturally needed to have some on our wedding day.

The above left shot is one of my favorites. Definitely a framer.

As we wrapped up our personal photo shoot, the natives out front were getting restless. At least they’re good at entertaining themselves! We rounded up the families and everyone joined us at the back of the winery for an easy peasy formal shoot.

Did you have fun with your wedding photos? A “day after” shoot is a good idea too if you don’t have time on your wedding day for informal shots.

My favourite is the one you want to frame too, so pretty and sweet smiles from the both of you!

May I ask what makeup you’re wearing? I remember reading you did it yourself, and I am thinking of doing my makeup myself and I’m similar colouring to you… Your blush and lip colour is divine!

@Lara: I wish I could be more help, but the makeup was loaned to me from a makeup artist. I just picked through her kit and use a bit o’ this and a bit o’ that. The lip color was from a palette and I think the blush is a Bobbi Brown color.

You know, I was never a fan of purple until your and Mrs. Cola’s wedding. I think you’ll be an inspiration for purple weddings to come! Just look at your bouquet! So much fun!

Your wedding shots look fun, carefree, and show how happy you truly were on your wedding day. I hope my wedding photos display those same traits.
